A huge thank you to everyone who came out yesterday for the Delaware Coastal Cleanup with Surfrider Delaware + Surf Bagel

Every bag filled, every piece of plastic picked up and every little bit of debris removed means less trash making its way into our waterways and ocean. 🧹🌊

We love seeing our community come together to take care of the beaches we all love.

And a big thank you to Surf Bagel for keeping our cleanup crew fueled! 🥯💙

We’re hitting the beach with Surf Bagel for the 2026 Delaware Coastal Cleanup, and there’s still time to join us!

Give us two hours of your Saturday morning and help keep trash and plastic out of Delaware’s beaches, waterways and ocean.

No experience needed. Just show up ready to help, meet some great people and make a difference. 💙

🌊 BEACH CLEANUP SAFETY: DO’S + DON’TS 🧹

Beach cleanups are a great way to protect our coast, but keeping our volunteers safe is always the priority. Here are a few important reminders before you head out:

We’ll provide gloves, grabbers, buckets and trash bags, so you’ll have what you need to get started!

✅ DO:
• Use the gloves and grabbers provided
• Look before you reach or grab
• Pick up human-made litter that can be safely handled
• Leave natural beach materials like shells, seaweed, feathers and driftwood where they belong
• Tell a cleanup leader if you find something unsafe or unusual

🚫 DON’T:
• Pick up needles or syringes
• Handle broken glass or anything with sharp edges
• Pick up boards or debris with exposed nails
• Touch chemicals or unknown containers
• Move anything too large or heavy
• Touch or disturb horseshoe crabs, injured wildlife or other animals

⚠️ If you find something potentially dangerous, leave it where it is and alert a cleanup leader so it can be handled safely.

When in doubt, don’t pick it up. Ask us! 💙

A safe cleanup is a successful cleanup. Thanks for helping us protect our beaches, our ocean and each other. 🌊

Join Surfrider Delaware + Surf Bagel Bagel for a morning of giving back to our coast as part of the 2026 Delaware Coastal Cleanup!

We’ll be helping remove trash and debris before it makes its way into our waterways and ocean. And Surf Bagel will be providing bagels for our volunteers! 🥯

Beach cleanups do more than make our beaches look better. The debris we collect provides valuable data that helps Surfrider identify sources of pollution, advocate for better policies and work to reduce waste at the source.

Bring your family, friends or come on your own. Spend a couple of hours with your toes in the sand, meet some great people and help protect Delaware’s coast. 🌊💙

It’s finally here! Join **Surfrider Delaware TONIGHT** for **Surf Movie Night** and a showing of *Surfing Through Time: Charting the Unique History of Surfboard Design*, a film by Danny Herlihy.

🌊 What a great night!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our August Chapter Meeting last night! We had a fantastic turnout, lots of great conversation and plenty of exciting things in the works.

We’re especially excited about the upcoming cleanups, events and opportunities we’re planning to bring our community together to help protect Delaware’s ocean, beaches and waterways.
