Louisiana hope you are wrapping up your hurricane preparations... Storm surge along with 100-110 mile per hour winds likely to effect SELA (South east Louisiana) and NOLA Metro on east side of Soon to be Hurricane Francine... Tornado threat with landfalling tropical system.... Power outages... Heavy rains... Mississippi Kentucky Tennessee also will have impacts as the system will plow into the Mississippi valley and travels north. Tracks are trending east.... So New Orleans is definitely under the gun regardless of direct hit ... Even a landfall to the west of NOLA is very impactful as the north East quadrant is the strongest part of a hurricane. Landfall will be Wednesday we are about 32-36 hours from landfall of a strong Category 1/ to cat 2..... potentially a cat 3 if rapid intensification process can take place. With waters being so warm and the Gulf not having a system impact them for weeks... I wouldn't be surprised to see this Francine turn into a major hurricane... Even if it doesn't become a CAT3 major.... The impacts to the bayous of Louisiana will still be very bad as they are flood prone areas. Convection is already blowing up around the center as of 950am... You can see that with the pink/whites on the satellite 🛰️ indictive of high cold cloud tops and a strengthening tropical system... Will make another update later...
