Our Story: The Beginning of Rapha Relief & Impact 828

It all began in a parking lot. One simple picture—me sitting there in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene—marked the start of Rapha Relief’s response. With no power and no internet, we leaned on faith and determination. Soon after, another image captured a milestone: the very first truckload of supplies arriving from Raleigh’s Catch the Fire Church.

Those early days were fueled by urgency, prayer, and the generosity of people who refused to look away from the devastation in Western North Carolina.

A few months into the work, I met four extraordinary women: Heather Michael, Amber Wiseman, Christinia Allen, and Jeanette Willis. Together, they became Impact 828. It started with one post and these amazing women—business owners, mothers, wives, and leaders—poured themselves into the mission. Seven days a week, they balanced families, jobs, and ministries while tirelessly delivering supplies and hope to those in need.

When the building they were using was going to be put on the market, threatening to end their efforts, we began to dream together. By then, Rapha had been working alongside these amazing women for nearly eight months.

Out of that moment of uncertainty came something stronger than any one of us could have imagined: a powerful partnership.

Impact 828 joined hands with Rapha Relief.

Now, united as one, we are committed to bringing hope, healing, and restoration to Western North Carolina. What began as a simple act in a parking lot has grown into a movement—neighbors helping neighbors, communities rising together, and lives being restored.

What. A. Day!! 🌪️ On the anniversary of Helene—who would’ve thought we’d be prepping for yet another storm? Models show it may be pulled out to sea (🙌🏼 hallelujah🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 after hours of “6–20+ inches of rain” predictions!), but no matter what—today was proof of why we do this.

✨ 26 families.
From 11:30am until 7:30pm today—26 families were served, provided for, and most importantly… loved.

This is the impact. This is community. This is why we show up. 💙

A HUGE thank you to Karen and Jenny Lou—two women who work tirelessly behind the scenes, giving their all despite personal challenges. Your commitment is unwavering. Y’all are the true heroes. 🫶🏼

Hope Delivered, Needs Rising: Rapha Relief and 828 Impact Supported Over 97 Families Amid Ongoing Crisis in Western North Carolina in July and August.

Western North Carolina — In the wake of continued natural disasters and economic hardship, Rapha Relief and 828 Impact have stepped up to provide critical aid to families across the region. Last two months alone, the organizations supported over 97 families, restocked three community hubs, and received vital assistance from partner hubs across the state.

Among the many stories of resilience, one stands out: a couple from California reached out with a heartfelt offer to help two families directly impacted by Hurricane Helene. Thanks to their generosity, Rapha Relief presented one family with a $2,000 check and another with $3,000. The look on their faces was priceless. It was a moment of hope in the middle of so much loss.

Despite these efforts, the need continues. Donations for Western North Carolina have declined sharply as national attention shifts to other catastrophes. There are still residents in tents or makeshift shelters, and many of the temporary tiny homes built after recent storms are now facing black mold infestations due to relentless rainfall.

“We’re seeing families who’ve already lost everything now facing health risks from mold,” said a hub leader in the region. “It’s heartbreaking—and preventable.”

Together, we can turn compassion into action—and ensure no family in Western North Carolina is left behind.

🌄 Hope in the Mountains

Nearly a year after Hurricane Helene, recovery in Western North Carolina is still unfolding—one act of kindness at a time.

Yesterday, Rapha House and Impact 828 teamed up with Karin Jenkins of Carolina Hearts and others to deliver vital supplies to local hubs, including a small mountain community that is still deeply affected.

Thank you to the countless volunteers and generous donors who’ve helped carry the torch of relief, restoration, and healing. And to those still being led to serve—Abba Father sees you. 💛

If you'd like to help or learn more, please reach out. Every contribution matters.
