Temperatures have dropped, and many of us have turned to space heaters, fireplaces, and other temporary heating devices to stay warm. Front Range Fire Rescue wants to remind everyone to make safety your top priority.
🔥 Keep it clear. Maintain at least 3 feet of space around space heaters—away from furniture, bedding, curtains, and anything combustible.
🔌 Plug directly into the wall. Never use extension cords or power strips with space heaters.
🕯️ Use fuel-burning devices safely. Never use ovens, grills, or generators to heat your home. These can produce deadly carbon monoxide. Install and test CO alarms regularly.
🛏️ Turn heaters off when unattended. Always switch off and unplug portable heaters before leaving the room or going to sleep.

Heating equipment is one of the leading causes of home fires during the winter months. A few simple precautions can prevent a devastating emergency.

Stay warm. Stay safe. ❤️🔥

The US National Weather Service Denver/Boulder Colorado has issued a Red Flag Warning for today, February 17th, from 10:00am to 7:00pm that includes the entire Front Range Fire Rescue (FRFR) service area.
Tomorrow’s weather will present extremely critical fire weather conditions that will promote rapid fire spread, which poses a risk to citizens, visitors, and properties within FRFR’s jurisdiction.
In response, FRFR is temporarily prohibiting all open fires and outdoor hot work all day Tuesday, February 17th. This prohibition will expire at sunrise on Wednesday, February 18th.
Thank you for helping us keep our community safe. Stay alert and take care.
