🌱✨ Rising Leaders Making an Impact! ✨🌱

Roosevelt High School seniors Grace Means and Roxy Miller are turning their passion for the environment into action—launching a brand-new Environmental Science Club at Milliken Intermediate School!

Inspired by their Environmental Science course through Aims Community College and their experience in the Caring for Our Watersheds program, Grace and Roxy set out to make environmental learning engaging and accessible for younger students.

With support from the Knights Success Program and Mr. Kasey Ross, they’ve spent months designing hands-on activities focused on ecosystem health, water quality, and sustainable practices. The club officially launches after spring break—and excitement is already building!

This is what Work-Based Learning is all about: students developing leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills while making a real impact in their community. 👏🌎

Did you know? Every month, we team up with Thompson Rivers Parks & Recreation District , Milliken-Johnstown Communities That Care - CTC , and Glenn A. Jones, M.D. Memorial Library to host free Teen Nights, rotating locations so there’s always something new.

These nights are open to youth in grades 6–12 and are all about giving teens a safe place to hang out, connect with friends, and have a great time. Plus, food is always included.

Our next Teen Night is this Friday (3/27) here at the Y. Bring a friend and come join us.

WE WANT YOUR INPUT!

We’ve narrowed it down to a few potential names and would love for community members, partners, and supporters to help us choose the one that best reflects the future of our work in Milliken and Johnstown
