Our first event is in the books. Foster families came from all around our area to enjoy a family day out. The kids had bounce houses, slides, fishing, horseback riding, and cooking hot dogs and smores over a camp fire. The parents were able to relax, connect and support other couples that understand the complexities of being a foster parent. We served them a meal and desert. They had many laughs as well as some much needed one on one time with their spouse! We are so thankful to all those that helped to make this event such a success!

Thank you to everybody that participated in our virtual auction! This fundraiser was created to fund our foster family events for the next several months. As we were planning the auction, we felt that we needed to participate in giving to DHR for the buying of Christmas presents for foster children. We decided that we would donate $1,000 to help and if we had any left over we would put it into our budget for our monthly events. Well, I'm excited to say that we exceeded that goal of $1,000 by $550! This will help us provide events for the next couple of months. Thank you to all who donated products for the auction. We were so impressed and honored with how willing you were to give to help these foster families.

Please consider Shepherd of the Valley Children’s Home this Giving Tuesday! Your money will go to provide foster parents with the many resources needed to ensure a safe, stable, and loving environment needed for foster children to thrive in our community.

Your giving Tuesday doesn’t have to be a gift of money. It could be a gift of love and friendship. I encourage you to help a foster family that you know, cook a meal and deliver it, offer to assist with Christmas, or maybe just call and be a listening ear. Let us surround these foster families with love and support!

As Christians, we are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus. In that, there are several ways to be who he calls us to be. Our ministry at Shepherd of the Valley Children’s Home is to look after and care for the many orphans there are in our surrounding areas. As James 1:27 says, “Pure and undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself unstained by the world.” We are not all called to foster, but one thing we are called to do is help.

December 1st is giving Tuesday. This is your chance to fulfill the mandate God gives us. Partner with us to forever change the lives of foster children in your community. Your donation will go to provide resources to help provide a stable and safe home for these precious children.

Shepherd of the Valley Children's Home is a foster care community which provides housing and other resources to foster families. To build a community where foster families can thrive and support each other while having acess to specialized resources such as counseling and therapy.
