Today, leadership from the Anne Arundel County Professional Fire Fighters, IAFF Local 1563 had the honor of attending the opening ceremony of the new Station 6 in Crownsville.

We were proud to stand alongside the members assigned to Station 6, including Captain Jen Robertson, members of the FEIU unit (Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit), department leadership, county leadership, and community members as this new station officially opened its doors.

Representing Local 1563 at today’s ceremony were Secretary-Treasurer Adam Palinkas and 5th District Representative Brian Christopher.

The Crownsville station will house a fire engine, brush truck and MAB (Mobile Ambulance Bus), all cross-staffed with 3 personnel, and 2 personnel to cross-staff a medic unit and tanker. Also assigned to the station is the department Shift Commander, Safety 5 (county-wide safety officer) and crews assigned to the FEIU unit (Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit).

Station 6 will play an important role in protecting the Crownsville community and supporting the firefighters, paramedics, and fire investigators who serve there every day. Congratulations to everyone involved in making this project a reality.

Tonight, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation begins their annual Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters campaign.

From April 26 through May 3, landmarks, homes, and businesses across the country will glow red to honor the brave men and women of the fire service who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

The Edgewater Volunteer Fire Department is proud to take part in this meaningful tribute, and we invite our community to join us in showing support.

Help us Light the Night by turning your porch light, landscape lights, or business lights red this week in remembrance of our fallen firefighters.

We would love to see our community participating—drop your photos in the comments and show us how you’re helping light the night red in support of our nation’s fallen heroes.

Together, we honor. Together, we remember.
