The Rotary Club of Lancaster South recognized Evelyn Kennel and Harry Skiles as Students of the Month. Below you will find more about these two outstanding individuals.
Evelyn Kennel, a senior at Lampeter-Strasburg High School, has been selected as one of Lancaster South Rotary Club’s Students of the Month for October, 2026. She was presented to the club by Dr. Benjamin Feeney, Principal of Lampeter-Strasburg High School, on October 14, 2026.
Kennel is the daughter of Nathan and Terah Kennel of West Lampeter Township.
Kennel competes on both the Varsity Girls Cross Country and Track and Field Teams. Kennel also competes on the Mock Trial team. She is the President of Student Council and a member of the Inter Club Council, the Mini-THON Planning Committee, Link Crew and was selected to be a member of the National Honor Society for her academic achievements.
Outside of school, Kennel is a member of Willow Street Mennonite Church and participates in youth group at her church. She also works at the Agape Café and Grille. In her free time, Kennel enjoys running, hiking, board games, puzzles, and playing pickle ball.
Following graduation, Kennel plans to attend a four-year college and major in Political Science before pursuing a graduate degree.
Harry Skiles, a senior at Lampeter-Strasburg High School, has been selected as one of Lancaster South Rotary Club’s Students of the Month for October, 2026. He was presented to the club by Dr. Benjamin Feeney, Principal of Lampeter-Strasburg High School, on October 14, 2026.
Skiles is the son of H. Brisbin Skiles, II and Janet Kirchner of Willow Street.
Skiles competes on the Varsity Boys Wrestling Team. Skiles also is member of the STEM Club, Ski and Snowboard Club, and Coding Club. He additionally has been selected to be a member of the National Honor Society for his academic achievements and was named a Burrows Scholar in the Spring of his Junior year.
Outside of school, Skiles is a boy scout and has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank which a Scouting America participant can achieve. He enjoys hiking, swimming, backpacking, climbing, mountain bike riding, writing, reading and computer programing.
Following graduation, Skiles plans to attend a four-year college and major in Engineering.
