What a day at Bay Gall Sporting Clays for our Project S.A.F.E. Shotgun Qualifier! I am SO proud of our Jenkins County shooters. 10 of our athletes qualified for the State Match in May!

Also..... For the FIRST TIME EVER, all of our juniors qualified for state! These students are all 6th graders, and this is their very first year shooting competitively. That is a HUGE accomplishment and a true testament to their hard work and determination.

A special thank you to our incredible coaches, Horace Weathersby and Grady Lambert, for the time, dedication, and heart you pour into these kids.

We also want to thank Brinson Insurance for providing lunch today—your support means so much to our team!

And a big shoutout to Daniel Defense and their Double D Foundation Grant for helping us keep registration costs low and making opportunities like this accessible for our youth.

Next stop… STATE! Let’s go, Jenkins County!

Tomorrow is April Fool’s Day… but this is NO joke! 👀💚

Starting tomorrow, we’re kicking off $4 for 4-H, and I’m asking EVERYONE to consider giving just $4 to Jenkins County 4-H.

I know $4 might not sound like much… but let me tell you what it can do 👇

If everyone in our county will donate just $4, that will be enough to send ALL 53 of our registered Jenkins County 4-H'ers to summer camp FOR FREE — an experience they will NEVER forget. For many of our kids, camp is where confidence grows, friendships are built, and independence begins.

Here’s the cool part about this campaign:
➡️ 80% of your donation comes right back to Jenkins County
➡️ It only takes 24 donors for our county to “turn green” 💚

So, whether you’re a parent, supporter, former 4-H’er, or just someone who believes in investing in kids, this is your chance to make a BIG impact with just $4.

Today, reality hit our seniors… and it came with rent, bills, and groceries.

This morning, Jenkins County High School seniors participated in our Reality Check financial literacy simulation—and they showed up ready. 👏

Prior to the event, students shared their future plans, including college and career goals. Using that information, each student was assigned a projected starting salary based on their chosen career path. For those planning to attend college, a realistic student loan amount was also calculated based on their intended degree and institution.

Then came the real-world application…

Students rotated through 13 stations, making decisions about housing, transportation, childcare, insurance, groceries, cell phones, and more. With each choice, they quickly realized how far (or not so far!) their income could stretch.

What stood out most wasn’t just the learning—it was the students themselves. They approached each station with positive attitudes, thoughtful decision-making, and a willingness to fully engage in the experience. They asked great questions, adjusted when things didn’t go as planned, and truly embraced the challenge of “adulting.”

This hands-on experience provided a powerful look into the financial realities of adulthood, reinforcing the importance of budgeting, planning, and making informed financial decisions—all while connecting students with local businesses that will support them as they transition into adulthood.
