Leadership Baldwin was created out of the Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce in 1981 “as a way to cultivate the talents and knowledge of civic-minded citizens who aspire to participate in shaping the future of their community." The organization is sponsored by the Leadership Baldwin Alumni program and provides those within the group valuable training and learning experiences that may be used to help make the local community a better and brighter place.

Join us in celebrating the graduation of the Leadership Baldwin Class of 2026! These outstanding leaders have spent the past year growing their leadership skills, strengthening connections, and deepening their commitment to the Milledgeville-Baldwin County community. We are proud to recognize this incredible group and look forward to the positive impact they will continue to make.

As part of this year’s program, the class completed a meaningful community project — a Uniform Drive for Communities in School designed to support local families and students in need. Through their collective efforts, the class helped provide essential school uniforms, easing financial burdens and ensuring students can begin the school year with confidence and pride. Their dedication reflects the true spirit of service and leadership that defines Leadership Baldwin.

A sincere thank you to our Leadership Baldwin Committee for their time, guidance, and commitment to another successful year, as well as our Leadership Baldwin Alumni for their continued mentorship and support. We also extend our appreciation to the businesses and organizations that invest in their employees by allowing them to participate in this impactful program, along with those who hosted class tours and experiences throughout the year. Your partnership makes Leadership Baldwin possible.

Reflecting on an inspiring final class day with Leadership Baldwin, focused on Higher Education! 🎓

Our journey began at Central Georgia Technical College, where Carrie, Director of Satellite Operations for Baldwin, Jones & Putnam, and Brandi, Director of Enrollment Services, welcomed participants for a fascinating overview of CGTC’s programs, workforce development initiatives, and the many educational pathways available to students across the region.

Next, the group visited Georgia College & State University, where Dr. Kevin Bucholtz and Wendell Staton hosted an engaging visit focused on enrollment, academic programs, and future development efforts supporting student success and institutional growth.

The day concluded at Georgia Military College, where Scott Seagraves led the group on a tour through Old Capital Building (OCB), sharing the rich history and legacy of GMC. Following the tour, Dr. Jeff Wells provided insight into the college’s continued growth, evolving enrollment trends, and expanding program opportunities shaping the future of education in our community. A special thank you to GMC for providing lunch and hosting our class so generously!

A special thank you to Tom Glover for thoughtfully planning such a meaningful day and helping make our final Leadership Baldwin class one to remember!

Leadership Baldwin class had an incredible day exploring “All About Milly”! A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this experience both educational and memorable.

🔹Baldwin County Annex - We started the day with Carlos Tobar, Baldwin County Manager, who shared valuable insight into the initiatives, growth, and important projects currently shaping Baldwin County and helping move our community forward

🔹 Baldwin County Courthouse – We are deeply grateful to, Judge Todd Blackwell; Clerk of Courts, Wanda Paul; Judge Amanda Petty; District Attorney, T. Wright Barksdale III; Latecia Lattimore (Solicitor General’s Office); Judge Terry Massey; and Judge Stephen Bradley, for sharing their knowledge and giving students a firsthand look at how our judicial system serves our community.

🔹 Milledgeville Police Department – Thank you to Major Linc Boyer, for providing the class with hands-on experiences and insight into the latest law enforcement technology.

🔹 Milledgeville Main Street – We truly appreciate Milledgeville Main Street Director, Jennifer Stasney and Event Coordinator, Larue Wooten, for showcasing the importance of downtown development, community partnerships, and the role Main Street plays in keeping Milledgeville vibrant and thriving.

✨ Special thanks to Tori Kala for her outstanding coordination in making this day a success!

Last week, our Leadership and Youth Leadership Baldwin (YLB) classes had the incredible opportunity to tour the Georgia State Capitol and experience state government in action!

Leadership Baldwin Primary Education Day! Our day began at the Baldwin County Board of Education, where Dr. Brooks shared valuable insights into our local school system and the innovative ways students are being engaged and supported. From there, we visited the Early Learning Center (ELC) and the Montessori Academy at Lakeview Primary, where we experienced vibrant learning environments designed to foster curiosity and growth from an early age.

We also toured the Baldwin High School College & Career Academy, learning more about the pathways being created to prepare students for both college and the workforce. Next, we visited John Milledge Academy (JMA), where we learned about their educational offerings and enjoyed a delicious lunch generously provided by John Milledge Academy.

Our final stop of the day was GMC Prep School, where we toured classrooms and gained insight into their curriculum and approach to student development.

A huge thank you to each school for their hospitality and for opening their doors to our class. Baldwin County is truly blessed to have such outstanding educational options. A special thank you as well to Amy Duke for planning and coordinating such an informative and engaging class day.

Yesterday, our Leadership Baldwin class had an incredible day dedicated to Healthcare!

The day kicked off with personality assessments led by Ryan Waldrep from Georgia Power, giving our leaders a deeper understanding of their strengths and how they communicate.

Next, they headed to Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin, where Thomas Goss - Atrium Navicent Health Baldwin COO and others guided them through a rich tour covering the hospital’s history, its growth and future needs, radiology, the ER, ICU with virtual care, and Labor & Delivery. Their insight and hospitality made the experience unforgettable!

They were then joined by Baldwin County EMS, where we learned the ins and outs of EMS education and how their team supports community members.

The next stop was the Georgia War Veterans Home, where the team walked our leaders through their day-to-day work, ways to get involved, and even hosted a tour and meaningful conversations with residents. We also wanted to thank them for the delicious lunch!

We are incredibly grateful to all the healthcare professionals and community partners who poured into our leaders today. Your dedication and passion for serving Baldwin County truly shine.

Last week, our Leadership Baldwin class spent an exciting day diving into economic development and connecting with some of the incredible industries that help drive Baldwin County forward!

Our first stop was the Chamber office, where Jonathan Jackson, Executive Director of the Milledgeville-Baldwin County Development Authority, gave us an inside look at how new businesses are recruited to our community.

Next, we visited Vernay Flow Control Solutions, where Doug walked us through how their team creates innovative flow-control components used in products around the world.

From there, we headed to Fouts Fire Inc., where Julie gave us a behind-the-scenes tour of how their team builds fire trucks and box trucks from the ground up—and treated us to a delicious lunch we truly appreciated!

Our final industry stop was Zschimmer & Schwarz, where Jason and the team shared insight into the specialty chemicals they develop that end up in everyday products.

It was an incredible day filled with learning, connection, and appreciation for the businesses that power our local economy. Thank you to Ashley Copeland for organizing the day and to each organization for taking time out of their day to educate and inspire our class.

🚒🚓 What an incredible day our Leadership Baldwin class had during Public Safety Day!
This year’s class had the opportunity to spend the day learning from the dedicated men and women who keep Baldwin County safe. They started the day at Baldwin County Fire Rescue with Dylan Amerson and Capt. Shep Davis gaining some in-depth knowledge on fire safety and what it takes to be a firefighter — even joining in on some hands-on training! Then they headed over to the Baldwin Sheriff Georgia, hearing firsthand from Sheriff Massee, toured the 911 Center with Director Mandy Ptak, as well as a behind the scenes look at the Real Time Crime Center with Intelligence Analyst Evelyn Johnson.
The day wrapped up with an insightful visit to the Ocmulgee Drug Task Force hearing from Joshua Thompson, CJ Davis, and David King about how they are partnering to protect our community and the importance of drug awareness.
We are so grateful to each of these departments and individuals for taking the time to share their knowledge and for their continued commitment to serving and protecting our community. 💙
A special thank-you to The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office for providing lunch and to Ryan Harrington for coordinating such an outstanding day! 👏
