***DANNY BOY PASSING***
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our sweet Danny Boy. Danny Boy was rescued almost a year ago in May. He was in terrible condition and was a street dog for 5 + years. He was extremely matted, covered in fleas, suffered a bad skin infection, and had a hurt leg. He never knew love, happiness, or kindness. All he knew was how to survive. However, what was so peculiar about this dog was his spirit. Even with all of his ailments and lack of love, he was still so sweet, gentle, domicile, and forgiving. He never once lashed out at anyone, growled, bit, or attacked. He just wanted to be loved and wanted to feel safe. Our very own president, Valerie Buckley, fell so in love with this sweet boy while fostering him for his lengthy recovery, that she even decided to keep him. He became the spokesperson for HAHSAL and the poster child (dog) for a rescue success story. He overcame so many obstacles throughout his recovery and grew to be an exceptional dog. He was HAHSAL's gentle giant and everyone knew and loved him. Danny Boy was most happy with his mommy, Valerie, hanging out at the Buckley Ranch, riding in cars, and eating Mcdonald's cheeseburgers or his favorite jelly filled cookies. He brought joy to everyone he met and touched the lives of everyone who heard his story. He will never be forgotten, but will always be remembered for his courage, sweetness, big heart, and endless love. Like Valerie would always say, "you gotta love that Danny Boy," and oh boy did we....
Please send your well wishes and prayers to Valerie Buckley on this sad day as well as to the HAHSAL team. Celebrate the life of Danny Boy and honor him in whatever way you can. Hug your pets and loved ones extra well today, you never know how long they have to keep touching our lives.
