This is the official page for Georgia College Shelter Buddies! We help to get the animals socialized in hopes for them to get adopted. Thank you!

Georgia College Shelter Buddies is a volunteer group that works closely with the Baldwin County Animal Shelter. Our mission is to get the Georgia College community involved in helping raise funds for the shelter and have hands-on volunteer work with the animals. Our funds help the shelter keep the dogs and cats healthy, so please donate! You can donate by clicking the Learn More button, which will lead you to our Venmo. If you are interested in joining, please stop by one of our meetings and like us on Facebook. If you have any questions, feel free to message us or email at [email protected]. If you are another student organization looking to get more involved with the community and the shelter please email us!

Our September Dog of the Month: TEAGAN!

This girl is the longest resident at the shelter, and we have no clue why. She is absolutely precious and will do anything for attention. Not overly energetic but always down to play with a toy, she walks great on a leash. She also already knows how to sit! She is super social and would love any family that will love her back!!

EXEC APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!

We are searching for multiple new positions for our board, and we would love if YOU would be a part of it! The deadline to apply is September 1st!

Some extra notes:
* You must be willing to volunteer at the shelter at least once a month during your term. It can be for any amount of time; mainly, it is important the shelter staff know who you are and how you can help!
* Exec meetings will be at the shelter with shelter staff once or twice a month, and you are expected to be there! We work together to figure out a day and time that works best for everyone!
* Member meetings- held once monthly- are also required events for exec members!

If you are looking for a great way to have a positive impact on your local community, this is it! Visit the link in our bio to apply now, and don't hesitate to reach out with any questions!

☀️DOGS OF THE SUMMER☀️
Meet our adorable dogs of the summer!! They are some of the longest residents at the shelter, so show them some love!

⛱️MILO: This guy is such a chunky little sweetheart! He is super calm, LOVES attention, and overall just wants to see you smile. He's a little shy at first, but he warms up very quickly when you give him some love. He is also very well leash trained! He would do super well in any kind of loving home!

🍉OTIS: Otis came in at about the same time as Milo, and he could not be more of a different personality! He barely sits still long enough to get a photo. He loves to play with you and is desperate for any attention you can give him. He would do great with anyone looking for a dog to keep them active!

There's nothing like seeing the direct impact of our community! Shelter Buddies has donated $1,600 to the Baldwin County spay and neuter program, which will allow them to spay/neuter almost 50 dogs or cats! We were also able to donate some toys and treats! 😇

Thank you to everyone who supported, donated, volunteered, and helped out in any way they could this semester!! This is a direct result of your hard work! We can't wait to top it next semester 😎

Our May Dog of the Month is Mailbox! A senior sweetheart who loves nothing more than head scratches and ESPECIALLY tennis balls! He is so precious and deserves more than anything to be able to live out his old man days in a comfy home. Still a puppy at heart, this big guy would do well in any kind of loving home. 😇💙

We had one of the most successful days our club has ever had last Friday, and we have our community to thank for it! The day began with Earthfest, where we sold donated clothes and made an incredible $318. That night, in partnership with and our INCREDIBLE bands .days.band and .band , Paws and Applause raised $1650.83. This totals to almost TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS in just one day!! 😌💙

We cannot thank everyone who made this happen enough! Whether you ran the show, played in the band, donated clothes, or attended the show, you are the reason this was so successful, and we can't wait to do it again next year! ☺️

Looking for another way to access our donation drive? Here's a step-by-step guide on how to get to it from the Amazon homepage! ☺️ We are still (and always) looking for more donations!
