Summer has been busy for Troop 87. Berkley returned from MaKaJaWan with Rifle Shooting, Shotgun, Archery and Pioneering complete. Matias achieved his First Class Rank. Max made progress towards his Camping and Personal Management Merit Badges.

This past Sunday Troop 87 had the honor of conducting the Eagle Court of Honor for Ian Murphy and Ryan Vargas!!! Congratulations on reaching Scoutings highest rank! Only 4% of scouts reach this goal!

Troop 87 camped at Maquoketa Caves this weekend. We explored a number of caves and hiked 5 miles while doing it! The weather was perfect and it was a great camping trip!

Troop 87 had their Spring Court of Honor tonight! Matias received his Personal Fitness merit badge. Ryan received his Swimming and Citizenship in the Nation merit badges. Patrick received his Family Life and Citizenship in the Community merit badges. Max received his Swimming, Communications, and Citizenship in Society. Max also was promoted to Life!!!

Troop 87 made their annual trip to Galena for Grant’s Pilgrimage! Scouts learned about the Civil War, explored the city and saw how high the river could get during flood season! Matias was the grub master and got one step closer to First Class!

Yesterday Troop 87 and some volunteers helped Patrick with his Eagle Project at Millburn Middle School! They spent the day clearing out under brush, thorn bushes and trash from a tree line to improve visibility (and appeal) to the soccer fields! The troop worked through periodic snow and hail to get the job done! Way to go!!!

Troop 87 went to the last regular season game for the Chicago Wolves and we watched them win 5-4 in over time! Half time shows were pretty cool with some great ice skating!!!

Last night Troop 87 did a ‘ready check’ on our tents in advance of our first Campout!

Matias also completed the Personal Fitness merit badge!!!

Scouts in Troop 87 continue to make progress on rank advancements. Patrick finished the Communications Merit Badge and only has service hours left for Citizenship in the Community. Ryan completed Citizenship in the Nation. Matias made progress on Personal Fitness. Max made progress on Communications!

Ian is one more step closer to Eagle as he complete his Eagle Board of Review!

Today Troop 87 spent the afternoon working on Ian’s Eagle Project! Ian is making Jazz Brand Fronts for the Lakes Jazz Band!

This past Sunday, Troop 87 was honored to host Luke’s Eagle Court of Honor! Luke earned his Eagle after many years of Scouting where he learned leadership skills, participated in community service and helped the Troop grow and learn! Congratulations Luke!!!!
