CCEDC is hiring a full-time Executive Director to guide strategy, stabilize finances, and build stronger community partnerships. This role is all about leading the team, growing funding, and clearly communicating the impact of Extension programs to county leaders and donors.
If you have nonprofit leadership experience, know your way around financial oversight, and are comfortable using digital tools to modernize and expand engagement, you will feel right at home here.

NCLI had a blast attending the 2024 Sustainable Futures Summit held at Vassar College, presented by Ulster BOCES, on Earth Day. They were able to watch presentations and learn about projects their peers have been working on throughout the Hudson Valley. They joined the poster session answering questions about their composting project.

The eels are here!!
On Thursday, NCLI assisted NYSDEC educators with glass eel monitoring on the Fall Kill in Poughkeepsie. We were thrilled to find 4 glass eels in the net, the first eels in the Fall Kill in 2024! The eel migration is just beginning and will continue through the spring.

Last week NCLI met with Faye Leone, City of Beacon Climate Smart Coordinator, to learn about Beacon's composting program. NCLI has chosen to focus on the potential for composting in the City of Poughkeepsie as their community project this year. It was wonderful to see a successful project in action!

NCLI is excited to help out with Science on the River this Saturday! Stop by and learn all about the water cycle from our teen educators!

Join DEC and the Hudson River National Estuarine Research Reserve for an interactive "Science on the River" Open House, in honor of National Estuaries Day at the Norrie Point Environmental Center in Staatsburg, NY!

This event is FREE and family-friendly. No registration required. All fishing and paddling equipment is available on site.

NCLI Youth spent a morning last week electroshock fishing for eels in the Enderkill Creek. By sending a shock into the water youth were able to scoop eels (and other aquatic creatures) into nets. They then recorded what they found, paying particular attention to the eels recording the total captured as well as the length and weight of each one.
