owl such as American black ducks, blue-winged teal and Canada geese. In the Atlantic Flyway lies the Great Swamp, one of NYS's significant natural resources and third largest freshwater wetlands. Running the length of the Harlem Valley from Dover Plains to Brewster, NY, this remarkable 20 mile long ecosystem provides prime stopover and breeding habitat for numerous waterfowl such as Wood Ducks, Black Ducks and Mallards. In the spring of 2013, over 5000 ducks were counted on a single night as they dropped down into the protected wetlands to settle in for the night.
