Recognized as one of the “world’s ten best gardens,”* Innisfree is a powerful icon of 20th-century landscape design. Over 50 years in the making, it is largely the work of landscape architect Lester Collins, FASLA (1914-1993), with important contributions by his client, the artist Walter Beck. Innisfree merges the essence of Modernist ideas and traditional Chinese and Japanese garden design principles with a nuanced reading of this glacial landscape. The result is a distinctly American stroll garden on 185 acres surrounding a large, shimmering lake – a sublime composition of rock, water, wood and sky.

We’ve added three bonus days to the calendar so you can make the most of Innisfree’s beautiful fall colors!

The garden will be open tomorrow, Thursday, and Friday, giving visitors a few extra opportunities to enjoy the spectacular autumn scenery. After Friday, Innisfree will transition to weekends only through November 15.

Tickets can be purchased online in advance or upon arrival.

October is here at Innisfree, and we are savoring everything that makes this season so special: the crisp autumn air, changing leaves, and beautiful fall weather. We have just a few more weekdays to enjoy the garden before we transition to our weekend-only schedule for the rest of the season.

We will be open next Wednesday through Sunday as well as Monday, October 12, for the holiday. After that, Innisfree will be open Saturdays and Sundays through November 15.

The gorgeous crispness of the autumn sun has arrived, and the garden awaits exploration and enjoyment during the final stretch of the 2026 season.

We’re open from 10 am to 5 pm, Wednesday through Sunday, for three more weeks before transitioning to weekend-only hours through November 15.

Please note that the garden will be closed this Saturday, September 26.

International Observe the Moon Night Notice:
For everyone coming to tomorrow night's event, we have a speaker change.

Sadly, due to a family illness, our previously scheduled speaker, Corey S. Powell, will not be able to join us. In his place, award-winning geologist and moon enthusiast Steve Kluge will join us to talk about the moon and why it is so special and unique, and to share some insight into future exploration of its surface.

Steve is an award-winning Earth science educator and avid outdoorsman who has worked as an "Expedition Expert" with National Geographic expeditions in the United States National Parks (where he often does "Dark Sky" talks), and as a geologist/guide with GeoEtc tours in Iceland. Steve co-hosted NASA's information booth at Volcanos Stadium/NASA's Eclipsefest during the total solar eclipse of 2017.

This will be a real treat! The talk starts at 6:45 pm, but feel free to come early with a picnic dinner or to take a walk through the garden before it gets dark.
