🚨The National Weather Service has issued Heat Advisories for Dutchess County for BOTH TODAY AND TOMORROW from noon through 8pm each day.🚨

The combination of high temperatures and high humidity will lead to heat index values or "feels-like" temperatures close to 100-102°F.
Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids, and stay in an air conditioned area, if possible.

NEVER leave children or pets unattended in vehicles, under any circumstances.

🐄🐑🐎 Now Accepting Applications for the NYS Animal & Agricultural Leadership (AAL) Program! 🌾

Are you a high school student entering at least your sophomore year and interested in animals, agriculture, leadership, and future career opportunities? The New York State Animal & Agricultural Leadership (AAL) Program is now accepting applications for its third year!

This unique statewide program provides students with hands-on experiences exploring the dairy, livestock, and equine industries while learning about college and career pathways in animal science. Participants will connect with faculty, college students, and industry professionals while developing valuable leadership, communication, and personal development skills.

✅ Four two-day sessions throughout the year
✅ Hands-on learning across multiple animal science disciplines
✅ College and career exploration opportunities
✅ Networking and mentorship experiences
✅ Leadership and professional skill development

📅 Application Deadline: September 1
💲 Program Fee: $100 per student for the year

Selection is based on an essay, demonstrated interest, and a personal reference.

Our friends at Zoe's Ice Cream Barn are inviting all Dutchess County 4-Hers to invent their own ice cream sundae for their 10 year anniversary! Fill out the white application below and submit to the email address listed no later than June 12th. Get creative, we can't wait to see what you create! The winning sundae will come to life and be sold at Zoe's from June 25 - July 21. A portion of these sales will be donated back to Dutchess County 4-H. What a treat! 🍀🍨
In addition to this contest, Dutchess County 4-H clubs are invited to attend and showcase their club activities and fundraise at the 10th anniversary celebration June 27-28. If your club would like to attend, please submit a Permission to Fundraise form no later than June 19th.

Calling all creative Dutchess County 4-H’ers!

The 2026 Dutchess County Fair theme is: “180 Years of Cultivating and Growing Traditions.”

The deadline to enter has been EXTENDED to May 15!

Top entries will receive prizes, and the winning design will be featured on the cover of the 2026 Fairbook.

Please note: prize amounts have been updated and may vary based on participation and judging.

In honor of Irene Decker, this year’s awards will be presented in her memory by the Fair Committee.

Dutchess County 4-H is celebrating our dedicated 4-H volunteers all week long during National Volunteer Week!
Day 5: Rounding out our week is Ron Mustello! Ron may not lead a 4-H club, but he embodies so much of what it means to be a 4-H volunteer. Ron donates countless hours serving on the Dutchess 4-H Fair Committee as well as the Dutchess County Agricultural Society. Another Dutchess 4-H Dad, Ron has had the privilege of watching his own children move through 4-H. Thank you Ron, for all that you do!

Dutchess County 4-H is celebrating our dedicated 4-H volunteers all week long during National Volunteer Week!
Day 4: Tim Stanely is a Dutchess 4-H Dad, and one of a trio of club leaders for Stony Ground 4-H Club! Tim assists with most everything livestock, from Devon cattle to Tunis sheep, and even dabbles in Native Beeology! With such a broad selection of projects, Tim has been an avid supporter of Dutchess 4-H, wearing many hats and always willing to work with youth and lend a helping hand. Thank you Tim!

Day 3: We are thankful for ALL of our 4-H volunteers, including the ones who volunteer their time for specific 4-H events and activities such as Public Presentations, Officer Training, Spring Food Fest, evaluation day at the Dutchess County Fair, Model Horse Show and more. Do you have a hobby, skill or passion project you want to share with others? Volunteering with 4-H does not have to be a time-consuming year round commitment! Contact the CCEDC office to speak with a 4-H staff member about short-term volunteer opportunities including single day events, day camps and SPIN (short-term special interest) clubs.
