Friends of Mead & McMillan Wildlife Areas Mead Wildlife Area Official Website George W. Mead Wildlife Area is over 33,000 acres of public land; the state's largest wildlife area.

Located within the temperate zone, the Mead's five types of habitats are rich with biodiversity which makes the area a paradise for wildlife. In turn, this makes the Mead a delightful place for hikers, photographers, hunters, naturalists, botanists, bird watchers, trappers, and all explorers who are interested in the great bounty that nature in Wisconsin offers. Wisconsin Wildlife Areas are open

24 hours a day, 7 days a week; No pass needed, parking lots remain open across the property. Maps are available at the visitor center and kiosks located around the property. The visitor center, 201517 Cty Hwy S, has limited hours of operation, Tuesday-Friday, 9-4:00. On weekends, public programs are often occurring. Carving and painting demonstrations, learn-to-carve and paint tents with instruction provided by professional carvers, decoys on display, and more.

Free admission! Fun for all ages!

Food will be available at the "Grill & Chill" fundraiser for the Friends of the Mead McMillan Wildlife Areas. Proceeds to support the Education Assistant position.
On the menu: Brats, hotdogs, chips, and ice cream sundaes.
