🐋 Introducing ORCA Outfitters!

ASCEND DECA is excited to announce the name of our new School-Based Enterprise and retail merchandising store, coming to Oregon Charter Academy this fall.

The name ORCA Outfitters was selected through a student and community naming competition, with the winning submission created by elementary student Ayla R.

This new venture will give students valuable real-world experience in entrepreneurship, marketing, merchandising, retail operations, customer service, and leadership while helping build school spirit throughout our ORCA community.

A special congratulations to Ayla for creating a name that captures the creativity, pride, and energy of Oregon Charter Academy.

We can't wait to share more about the products, student leadership opportunities, and exciting plans for ORCA Outfitters as we prepare for launch.

🎉 Introducing ASCEND DECA's 2026–2027 President and Vice President 🎉

Please join us in welcoming **Lily D.** as our incoming Chapter President and **Lucia G.** as our incoming Vice President.

Lily brings experience from serving as our previous Vice President of Marketing, along with a passion for journalism, travel, architecture, and strategic thinking. Lucia is an entrepreneur, app developer, debater, and outdoor enthusiast who hopes to one day build an environmentally sustainable business.

Together, they represent the creativity, leadership, and determination that make DECA such a powerful experience for students.

As we continue building on a successful first year that included state and international competition, we are excited to see the vision, energy, and new ideas these student leaders will bring to ASCEND DECA.

🌟 ASCEND DECA Takes Atlanta! 🌟

This year, ASCEND DECA proudly represented Oregon Charter Academy at DECA's International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Atlanta, Georgia.

Students Lux S., Julie T., and Luis E. R. joined advisors Dr. Cynthia Lofts and Summer Highfill for several days of competition, leadership development, networking, and exploration alongside thousands of DECA members from around the world.

During the conference, students attended DECA's opening session featuring more than 26,000 attendees, participated in leadership and business-focused activities, connected with other student leaders, explored Atlanta landmarks, and celebrated their accomplishments together.

Experiences like ICDC help students develop confidence, professionalism, communication skills, and leadership abilities that extend far beyond the classroom.

Congratulations to Lux, Julie, and Luis for representing ASCEND DECA and Oregon Charter Academy with excellence. We are proud of the impact you are making and excited to see what comes next!

ASCEND DECA had an incredible time connecting with students, families, and staff at Oregon Charter Academy's Spring Celebration last week!

From sharing information about DECA and our exciting plans for next year to meeting some amazing community members (and a few furry friends 🦙), our booth was filled with great conversations, smiles, and opportunities to showcase what student leadership looks like in action.

We're especially grateful to everyone who stopped by to learn more about our chapter, ask questions, and support our students. Events like Spring Celebration remind us how fortunate we are to be part of a school community that values leadership, creativity, career readiness, and student success.

As we wrap up an extraordinary inaugural year for ASCEND DECA -including state and international competition, leadership development, advocacy initiatives, and community impact projects - we're already looking ahead to the 2026–2027 school year with excitement.
