Save Our Bridge Mill City's Historic Railroad Bridge Centennial Restoration Project is scheduled to be completed in 2

Mill City’s Historic Railroad Bridge Centennial Restoration Project began in 2014 and is a joint project of the City of Mill City and the Save Our Bridge Committee which is made up of nine community leaders. The project has the full support of the City Council and has garnered donations from bridge and railroad aficionados around the country through Go Fund Me, Facebook and other social media out

lets. The restoration of Mill City’s Historic Railroad Bridge is important to Mill City and the North Santiam Canyon because the bridge is a signature structure that identifies the community. It is the last remaining Phoenix Column Bridge in Oregon and reflects the special connection that Mill City and the North Santiam Canyon have had with the railroad and logging industries since 1887. The existence of Mill City was directly tied to the ability to move logs and lumber to the local mills and to the Willamette Valley. Today Mill City’s Historic Railroad Bridge is a well-used bike and pedestrian trail and gathering place for river watching. In addition, the bridge serves as a vital part of the Mill City water system between Marion and Linn Counties. The restoration will enhance the civic vitality of our community and provide recreational opportunities for generations to come.
