Would anyone be interested in running/working a concession during the 4th of July celebration and possibly the Jamboree to get Santiam Kids and Tourism Effort back in the loop?

There have been concerns voiced that this project will never happen. For those of you in the Canyon area, you know the trials of the last year. On top of our devastation, the builder for the skate park lost many of its buildings and has since begun rebuilding. In addition, our committee of five has had to restructure the Memo of Understanding and financial responsibilities with the City of Mill City. We continue to search for funding and to find volunteers and means to begin breaking ground. If you would like more information, please comment here in a manner becoming this community. We can use all the help and volunteers who still seek to see this endeavor completed. Thank you.

Hey board members and community now that we're looking at more stable times it's time to think about getting together. After such a long break, we need to regroup, restructure, and set a plan to move forward. We need to work together.

Skate Park PLAN of ACTION

For nearly two decades, beginning in the early 2000s, community groups and individuals in Mill City and Gates have worked to fulfill the dream of a local skate park. In 2005 skate enthusiasts Tim & Karen Widmer, Brenda Woodley-Thomas, and various youth volunteers spearheaded a community-based skate park committee and joined forces with the City of Mill City to acquire funding and a site for a Mill City Skate Park Project.

In October 2014, Santiam Kids and Tourism Effort (SKATE) formed under nonprofit status and received 501(c) (3) determination August 25, 2015. In cooperation with the City, SKATE continues the efforts of the original Mill City Skate Park Project Committee. The final skate park vision incorporates a city park with a revenue generating venue.

The Mill City Planning Commission approved a Conceptual Site Plan for a Skate Park effective July 21, 2018. To gain a final approval for Phase 1 construction the site designer to prepare a final site plan and construction plans for the project.
