I need respite care for my husband who is a disabled veteran (He is still active duty Navy, but is on limited duty at this time). He can take his own meds and get to the restroom, etc. He uses a walker in the home, and a wheelchair for going out. Due to a history of anxiety attacks and severe muscle spasms, it is unsafe for him to be alone for extended periods of time and he cannot drive. He will need help with light meal prep, stocking of needed items such as water bottle, etc.and occasional transportation to medical appts on base. Interested persons must be flexible on pay, at least initially, as I am having to apply for a grant to pay for this type of service. Bottom line: I owe you's on sticky notes + some cash at time of service, with more pay coming later...Interested person must be drug/alcohol free, & a licensed driver with clean driving record. Some familiarity with post traumatic stress is preferable. Must not be allergic to cigarette smoke or dogs (we have 2) This is a great gig for a college student, prior military, or a military spouse who needs extra money and/or hours signed off for community or veterans' service! I am active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars (President of an Auxiliary), so I can provide documentation for all volunteer hours. Schedule will vary from week to week, as I am currently trying to secure employment myself. 20 hrs. per week give or take. Care provider will have access to WiFi, snacks, Netflix, can use their phone as needed, etc. EASY GIG! Just make sure my husband doesn't fall out unconscious and be mature enough to help him through an anxiety attack if necessary. We don't want any more trips to the ER if we can help it!
We also have 2 children with special needs (Autism & Visually Impaired) so occasional babysitting for all 3 persons might be a possibility. If any of this sounds like it might work for you, please contact Christine ASAP!
