JPB has successfully concluded its 10-day Innovation 1 Summer Institute in Nicosia, Cyprus, providing participants with a meaningful and enriching educational experience.

Throughout the program, participants explored a wide range of topics, including identity, communication, environmental awareness, human rights, technology skills, and leadership development. Through interactive workshops and collaborative activities, they strengthened their confidence, critical thinking, and ability to work as effective leaders.

The institute also offered a unique opportunity to discover the history and culture of Cyprus. Participants explored the divided city of Nicosia, met with local community members, and gained a deeper understanding of the island's history. Creative workshops in sewing and painting further enriched the experience by encouraging self-expression and cultural appreciation.

A highlight of the program was the art therapy session, which provided participants with a safe and supportive environment to build self-confidence, express their emotions, and explore their personal experiences through art.

The Innovation 1 Summer Institute concluded on a high note, with participants expressing heartfelt gratitude to the staff and leaders whose dedication, guidance, and support made the experience both memorable and transformative. The program leaves participants inspired, empowered, and better equipped to become active leaders in their communities.

Later this week, they will visit a synagogue, a mosque, and a church, and take part in a special leadership workshop as they continue exploring identity, dialogue, and peacebuilding.

Here's to a week of learning, friendship, and hope.

Our Discovery students participated in a weekend of team-building prep with Texas Educator Blake Burns in anticipation of their trip to Texas in August. This was our first year investing in our students with an in-depth orientation and preparation. It was a transformative experience for both our students and Blake. This was an enriching opportunity for our students and staff to get to know each other for their intense 10-day Institue.

Professional Development for Summer Staff | St. George’s College, Jerusalem | June 6

As part of our summer staff training, Dr. Lubna Haddad led a professional development session on mental health and managing behavioral challenges among youth participants.

The workshop equipped staff with practical tools, strategies, and insights to support participants with empathy, confidence, and care throughout our five summer institutes. We are deeply grateful to Dr. Haddad for sharing her expertise and helping prepare our team for the important work ahead.

Investing in our staff means creating safer, stronger, and more supportive environments for every young person we serve.
