With the uprising in our monthly calls, and the majority of our current members working during daytime hours out of town we are looking for some dedicated daytime responders.
Primarily we are looking for anyone who’s available during the day to help us keep up with call demands.

Ladies and gentlemen, this Saturday is the annual Tour D’ Italia bike races. Milford fire has been asked by bike race officials to help in different aspects. We will have 2 personnel assisting with “traffic control” in the area of S 308 and Hwy 22 in Mertens. We will also have available personnel in or around the station for most the day to assist with a number of other things for this day.
Please make sure on this day ,Saturday June 20th, to move through not only our community, but neighboring communities as well!

I’d like to take a moment and give a shoutout to Probationary Engineer Josh Goodwin. While returning from the structure fire in Italy Friday night, we suffered mechanical problems with our large brush truck putting it out of service. Yesterday, Josh spent most of the day working on and addressing that truck to get it back into service. With hours of work he was able to get everything replaced and have that truck placed back into service. We are thankful for the work that Josh, and everyone he had help him, and for the continuous effort he has put in to maintaining and servicing our fleet. Josh has proven time and time again to be an outstanding member of not only our department but our community.

At approximately 5:30 this afternoon, Italy FD was alerted to a structure fire. Milford personnel heard this go over the radio and started assembling personnel to the station due to Italy having already called for 2 other departments for mutual aid. Milford advised county dispatch we would be covering Forreston and Italy area as well as our own area to help take some work off of Italy. At 5:42 Milford fire was requested to mutual aid Italy on the structure. Due to already having personnel at the station we were able to rapidly respond with 3 apparatus. Milford operated on scene for approximately 4 hours along with ESD6, Italy FD, Forreston FD and Avalon FD. Milford Fire responded with a total of 4 apparatus and 10 (YES you read that right) personnel.
Edited to add, Milford did respond to another fire incident in Italy during this time period. We’re happy to help our neighbors as they always repay the favor!

I want to take a moment and publicly say how much I appreciate the probationary firefighters we have with us. Today showed how much of their time and dedication they’ve given to training and how much it paid off.

There is a wreck involving an overturned semi SB 35 in hill county. This is causing traffic to come through Milford on 77. It should clear in a little bit.
