Farewell, Friend
We are deeply saddened to bid farewell to our long-time friend and supporter of the Milford Schools Foundation, Ed Humphrey. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to Ed’s wife, Janice, and to their entire family.
Ed was a lifelong resident of Miamiville and a proud alumnus of the Milford High School Class of 1962. He went on to earn both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Cincinnati. After graduation, Ed began a 28-year career with Procter & Gamble.
But Ed’s true calling was serving others. He devoted his time, talents, and leadership to his community in countless ways. He was a founder of the Miamiville Fire and EMS services and served on the boards of the National Ski Patrol, American Heart Association, METRO, Box 13, and Milford First United Methodist Church. He also entered public service, serving as a Miami Township Trustee and as a Clermont County Commissioner. He also served on the Milford Miami Township Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors starting around 1999 for over ten years.
Ed and Janice shared a deep commitment to the children of Milford Schools. Their generosity included financial support for teacher grants, serving as Presenting Sponsors of the Night of the Stars Gala for two years, and establishing an endowment that annually provides two scholarships for students pursuing degrees in the health sciences.
In 2022, Ed was honored by the Milford School Foundation as a Distinguished Alumnus in recognition of his professional accomplishments and extraordinary contributions to his community.
On September 30, in recognition of their long-standing commitment to Milford students, staff, and the community, Ed and Janice will be honored with the Foundation’s Legacy Award. While Ed will not be with us to receive this honor, it is a fitting tribute to a man whose life was defined by service, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to others.
Ed, thank you for a lifetime of giving. Your kindness, leadership, and friendship will not be forgotten. Rest well, dear friend. You will be deeply missed by so many.
