We know many of you have been disappointed to learn that the Makers Market will not be taking place during Frontier Days this year. Trust us when we say that no one is more disappointed than we are.
The Makers Market has always been a special part of Frontier Days, but unfortunately, our Makers Market Chairperson, Erika, has experienced a serious medical emergency that has required multiple surgeries and an extended hospitalization. Erika was the driving force behind organizing and managing the entire market, and despite our best efforts to find a way to continue the event this year, our small volunteer committee simply could not give the market the attention and quality it deserves while managing all of the other Frontier Days events and responsibilities.
The good news is that the Makers Market will absolutely be back next year, and we appreciate your understanding, patience, and support as we navigate this difficult situation.
Many of you have been asking about Erika’s condition. Over the past several weeks, Erika has endured an incredibly difficult journey after a severe reaction to medication caused blood clots in her leg. Despite multiple surgeries and the efforts of her medical team, she is now facing the life-changing reality of losing her left leg below the knee.
Through it all, Erika has shown tremendous strength, courage, and determination. She now faces a long road of recovery, rehabilitation, and adapting to a new way of life.
As a way to support Erika and her family, all proceeds from the Big Six Wheel today will be donated directly to help with her recovery and mounting medical expenses. The Big Six Wheel is expected to open around 2:00pm.
If you’d like to support Erika further, we encourage you to donate to or share her GoFundMe fundraiser. Every donation, share, prayer, and message of encouragement makes a difference.
Erika has given so much to our community and to Frontier Days over the years. Now it’s our turn to rally around her.
Thank you, Milford, for showing what makes this community so special. ❤️
