An accurate Census helps determine how federal resources are distributed to communities, influencing funding for schools, infrastructure, healthcare, and other essential services that support our neighbors and strengthen the places we call home.

Through this partnership, we'll work alongside local leaders, organizations, and community members to help ensure that residents across Pike and Wayne Counties are counted.

Because building stronger communities starts with making sure everyone has a voice and a place in our shared future.

Meet Our Board: Carol Witschel 🌿

From practicing intellectual property law in New York to growing flowers and planting trees throughout Pike County, Carol Witschel has brought her skills, passion, and love for the community to every chapter of her journey.
*
A Pike County resident since 1992 and a full-time resident since 2007, Carol now serves as Secretary of Greater Pike Community Foundation, joining the board in 2023.
*
She also serves on the Pike County Public Library Board and chairs the annual Milford Presents Halloween Pooch Parade.
*
We’re grateful for Carol’s continued dedication to strengthening and enriching the Pike County community. 💙

At a time when we’ve been sharing some of our greatest challenges with our community, we’re incredibly proud to share one of our greatest accomplishments: GAIT Equine Assisted Services has officially earned reaccreditation as a PATH Intl. Premier Accredited Center, and we earned a 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 𝟭𝟬𝟬% 𝗣𝗔𝗦𝗦 on this incredibly rigorous audit!

Of more than 760 PATH Intl. member centers, only 250 hold this distinction. The audit evaluated nearly 200 professional standards, covering everything from horse care and participant safety to instruction, volunteerism, and daily operations. It’s a reflection of more than 30 years of dedication to doing things the right way.

To our founder, Martha Dubensky; our staff, instructors, volunteers, and board members; and every horse who has ever called GAIT home, this recognition belongs to all of you. PATH Intl. CEO Kevin Price personally congratulated GAIT on our continued commitment to quality equine-assisted services.

This recognition means so much, especially right now. GAIT isn’t struggling because our mission has lost its value. We’re struggling because the cost of sustaining that mission has grown beyond the resources available to support it. Our commitment to safety, professionalism, compassionate care, and the people we serve has never wavered.

We’ve worked incredibly hard to build something special here in Pike County, and we’re working just as hard to make sure it remains here for generations to come. We have the horses, the people, the programs, and now, once again, national recognition of the quality of our work. What we need is the financial support to keep it all going.

The Community Harvest Campaign is officially underway.

Cuts to federal food-assistance programs, inflation and rising grocery prices are making it harder for families across Pike County to put food on the table. Nearly 7,000 people in our county rely on food-assistance programs, and our local food pantries are on the front lines.
**
That is why we are relaunching the Community Harvest Campaign, and starting earlier this year. In 2025, this community raised over $26,000 for local pantries. This year, we hope to go even further.

Sixth graders at Dingman-Delaware Middle School are raising their own trout this year, thanks to Pennsylvania Trout in the Classroom, a program supported by the Richard L. Snyder Chair of Conservation Studies Fund at Greater Pike.
**
Students will explore trout life cycles, water conservation, and cold water ecosystems, then release what they've raised into a local waterway at year's end.
**
This fund also built the nature trail connecting Delaware Valley High School to the Delaware River, a space now used by classrooms, campers, and cross country runners alike.
**
"He was a charitable role model for us all," said Duke Schneider, reflecting on the legacy of his friend Dick Snyder, whose generosity made this all possible.

Through the Safe Haven Legacy Fund, Greater Pike Community Foundation supports nonprofit organizations helping survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault find and relocate to permanent, safe housing.
