May is

Early intervention plays a powerful role in supporting children and families during the earliest – and most important – years of development.

For young children with developmental delays or at risk for developmental delays, early intervention can provide a strong start by building skills in communication, social interaction, motor development, cognitive growth, and more. Our Early Intervention program partners closely with families, offering education, hands‑on strategies, and ongoing support to help children reach meaningful developmental goals.

Home Visitor Spotlight: Maria Diaz 🌟

For Maria, her work as a Healthy Families Program Coordinator at Criterion Child Enrichment is powerful and rewarding.

As a former participant in the Healthy Families program, Maria knows just how impactful having support can be during challenging moments of life. For the past 2 years, she has brought that same understanding to the families she works with in the Milford/Framingham area.

"My past experience as a participant played a lot into my current role. Showing families how beneficial having a support system, no matter how big or small, can go a long way."

Through every visit, Maria helps families feel seen, supported, and empowered to move forward.

In honor of , our Healthy Families team attended The Children's Trust Step up for Kids event, where 57 pairs of shoes lined the steps of the Massachusetts State House to symbolize the average number of Massachusetts children reported abused or neglected every day. We heard from leaders about impactful community work, the progress achieved, and the challenges that remain. This year, confirmed cases of abuse and neglect in Massachusetts decreased - a reminder that when families have consistent, compassionate support, children are safer and communities are stronger. We are grateful for The Children’s Trust’s partnership, which strengthens our work to support families and build a safer future for children.

On , we honor the impact that behavioral therapy has on children, families, and communities. This day also marks the birthday of B.F. Skinner, whose research and lifelong work shaped our understanding of how learning happens, demonstrating how behavior is learned and strengthened through reinforcement.

Skinner’s research on reinforcement, motivation, and human behavior laid the foundation for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). His ideas helped create the evidence‑based practices we use today to support children as they build developmental skills, independence, and confidence. We are proud to partner with dedicated ABA providers who bring these principles to life every day, and the progress we see in homes, classrooms, and community settings is a direct reflection of the legacy Skinner began.
