The location has been chosen and approved, the bench is being ordered and we will soon be able to dedicate the memorial bench to our dear "Elf Mama" Annie Davis.

I've had several inquiries as to how the fundraising for Annie's Memorial Bench is going.
Thanks to the generosity of some wonderful donors, we are about 1/3 of the way to our goal.
For obvious reasons, the target group from which I sought donations was the Santa's Helper families who've enjoyed the program that Annie dedicated her life to for the past 25 years.
On the day of the Gift Drop-Off at the OVFD, the Auxiliary had a collection jar out and everyone was very generous, filling it to the top. The Fire Department decided to split the money between the Heart Association and the Diabetes Foundation in Annie's name. A Wonderful idea to help two very worthy causes.
From what I now understand, no one knew exactly what the donations were going to and many assumed it was for the memorial bench they'd read about on Orange Live.
I'd like to clarify, the OVFD and Friends of Annie Davis are two totally different things. That collection and the ongoing Memorial Bench collection are unrelated.
The Friends of Annie Davis's Memorial Bench collection is being done with the Orange Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and we still need to raise $800. This could have been accomplished by soliciting just $10 from each Santa's Helper Family.
We are working on different ways to get the money so that we can dedicate the bench by spring as a continual reminder to the townspeople about just how wonderful and dedicated Annie was to this town.

We're less than two weeks away from this event. We're still looking for groups and/or organizations to sponsor a prize or gift basket to the raffle.
A lottery ticket basket would be more than popular, and your group would be attached to it as a sponsor.

If you have ever taken part in the Santa's Helper Program, why not come and share some stories about what Elf Mama did for you and your family? The Fundraiser is on Friday, Nov. 8 from 5-9 p.m. at the Orange Ale House. We'll have food, so you won't have to cook after work.
