🏠 **SB 285: Housing Matters**

Senate Bill 285 goes into effect on **July 1, 2026**, bringing important changes regarding camping, sleeping, or using public land for long-term shelter in Indiana.

While this bill may impact communities across the state, it also raises important local questions for Kosciusko County and surrounding rural areas:

Who is responsible for outreach?
Where can people safely go?
How do we prevent people from cycling through jail when what they may need is housing, treatment, recovery support, or crisis care?

At LITE Recovery Hub, we believe community solutions matter. Housing instability, substance use, mental health challenges, and justice involvement are often connected, and strong local coordination is essential.

This is why collaboration between law enforcement, courts, hospitals, recovery organizations, behavioral health providers, and community partners is so important.

Housing, recovery, and treatment solutions protect both people and communities. 💙

Here’s what’s happening at LITE this week! We have several opportunities to connect, grow, and find support throughout the week.

A few highlights:

☕ Recovery Café
Join us for community, encouragement, and connection.
Tuesday: 4pm-8pm
Friday: 11am-3pm
Saturday: 9am-12:30pm

🎨 Purdue Extension Art Class
Saturday at LITE Recovery Café, Purdue Extension will be teaching an art class focused on Recovery Self Portraits. This is a great opportunity to reflect, create, and connect with others in recovery.

🚗 Milford 2nd Fridays
LITE will be at Milford 2nd Fridays this Friday from 5pm-8pm. Stop by and see us!

We also have All-Recovery, Bible Study, NA meetings, RISE Teen Support Groups, School for Recovery classes, MRT, and more happening this week.

Join us tomorrow for the Freedom Fest 5K! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

LITE Recovery is hosting the Freedom Fest 5K on Saturday, June 6 at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds in Warsaw.

Registration begins at 7:00 AM, and the 5K will take place at 8:00 AM.

This event is a great opportunity to come together as a community to celebrate resilience, recovery, and new beginnings. Whether you plan to run, walk, or cheer from the sidelines, your support helps create opportunities for individuals in recovery to build stable, independent lives.

All proceeds from the Freedom Fest 5K directly support LITE Recovery’s Transitional Housing Program.

We plan to be there unless there is a threat of storms. Mild rain will be a go!

Join the 15th Annual Tour des Lakes on Saturday, July 18, 2026, and enjoy a beautiful ride through Kosciusko County’s lakes, trails, country roads, and small towns.

Whether you’re a casual rider, bringing the family, or ready to take on the 100K route, this event is more than just a bike ride. It’s a community celebration with scenic views, friendly volunteers, SAG stops, and a purpose behind every pedal stroke.
