Beautifully Curated Exhibit

I’m so pleased with how this exhibit came together. Check out the color harmony in their exhibit design, blues on the left wall and green on the furthest.

A heartfelt thank you to Dixie Rieger, Executive Director, for thoughtfully curating the exhibition and to Wanda Ayers, Administrative Assistant, for helping everything run so smoothly.

Their dedication created a wonderful experience for visitors and me alike.
Curating an exhibition is truly an art form in itself. Your design truly makes my abstract spiritual paintings flow in your unique exhibit space.

What a wonderful experience at the **Montana Educators Conference in Great Falls!** 🎨

WaterWorks Art Museum was thrilled to be part of this year's conference! Our Education Director, Bonny Beth Luhman Olson, had the opportunity to lead two hands-on art workshops for educators from across Montana!

On Thursday, teachers explored the beautiful and unpredictable art of Suminagashi, the Japanese technique of floating ink on water to create stunning marbled paper. We used shaving cream and liquid watercolor a more contemporary technique to accomplish the marbled papers.

On Friday, teachers traded ink for wool as they learned the colorful and creative process of 2D needle felting, transforming wool fibers into their own unique works of art!

Both workshops were a huge success, filled with creativity, curiosity, laughter, and plenty of artistic inspiration! We loved sharing these techniques with fellow educators and hope they bring a little of that creative excitement back to their own classrooms!

A huge THANK YOU to the Montana Art Educators Association (MAEA) and the Montana Federation of Public Employees (MFPE) for the opportunity to be part of this incredible experience! Also would like to give a shout out to Autumn Elliot, president of MAEA making this a huge success for the arts.

See ya next year!🎨✨

WaterWorks Art Museum is pleased to share this post from Linda McCray. We will be sharing more images of her works and the amazing works of co-exhibitors Jim Linnell and Dennis Eddlemon in the coming weeks.

"Passion to Pentecost” is my most well-known painting. It has been published internationally and exhibited widely. It is currently on exhibit at WaterWorks Art Museum, Miles City, Montana.

It was a joy sharing stories behind my abstract spiritual original paintings; using “Passion to Pentecost” as an example of a few of my techniques and symbolism; and hearing your thoughtful questions during my artist talk

In “Passion to Pentecost,” I symbolized five wounds with the abstract element of red drips of paint; resurrection with gold drips upward; and the event of Pentecost with a few white brushstrokes evoking a dove and the color red flaming down from above. Often old story-telling altarpieces lost panels and were restored with different found sections, thus the panels of this painting are designed to look randomly placed. The triptych format of three panels is a symbol for the Trinity, which came to be on Pentecost. This 72 x 114 x 2 in. abstract spiritual painting is available.

THANK YOU for a wonderful “Fall Extravaganza” Opening Reception! If you missed Friday’s reception, there is still time to experience the exhibit. The artwork will remain on view through November 12.
