FIRE UPDATE – County Road 342
Milano VFD personnel returned to yesterday’s wildland fire this morning at 9:30 a.m. and remained on scene until around 4:00 p.m.
Crews spent the day conducting mop up operations, locating and extinguishing remaining hot spots, and working to gain access to the trouble tree that had continued to burn in an area that was difficult to reach during the initial response.
With assistance from the Texas A&M Forest Service personnel were able to access the affected area, address the trouble tree, and mitigate remaining hot spots.
Wildland fires can continue to hold heat underground, in root systems, and inside damaged trees well after visible flames are extinguished. Today’s work was focused on reducing the chance of rekindle and leaving the area as safe as possible.
Milano VFD appreciates the continued assistance of our state and county partners.
