We know that September has arrived when the state fair is over, school has started, and Labor Day weekend is approaching.
We are pleased that Maizie and her horse, Phantom, enjoyed representing QCABHA at the Iowa State Fair Cowgirl Queen contest. She had fun and enjoyed meeting so many new people!
With school expenses rising, QCABHA wants to encourage you to take the time now to research scholarship opportunities like the one we offer yearly. Just a bit of effort can pay off some of your educational expenses.
The deadline is fast approaching!

Wishing Maizie Hosch the QCABHA’s 2026 Junior Cowgirl Queen Contest representative best of luck on Friday, August 14th at the Iowa State Fair! 🎡 We are happy to have her represent QCABHA. 🐴

“My name is Maizie and I have been riding for six years. My horse’s name is Phantom, she is my favorite partner to run games with.
I wanted to do this because I hope my story can motivate other kids to do anything they put their minds to. No matter what challenges you face, if you work hard and believe in yourself, you can achieve your goals. It's always fun to represent QCABHA at the State Fair. I love getting the opportunity to compete, meet new people, and to be part of such a great organization!" 💙

"Knee high by the 4th of July" is often quoted and anticipated by sweet corn lovers and growers alike. 🌽
But July is even more anticipated by our youth preparing for County and State Fair events.
To help prepare our local equine participants, Iowa and Illinois 4-H, FFA, and area youth are invited to participate in FREE Horsemanship Clinics on Wednesday evenings at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds! 🐴

June brings us summer fun and Father’s Day. Ann Geddes has been quoted as saying, “Any man can be a father, but it takes a special man to be a dad.” Celebrate your dad this month and forever cherish all of the special moments you created together.

Mark your calendar for the Saturday, June 13th Open Show & Cowgirl Queen Contest hosted by Kristin Silk with the Cowgirl Queen Contest sponsored by Quad City All Breed Horse Association. The event will take place at the Clinton County Fairgrounds 9328 East 8th Street, DeWitt, Iowa. The Iowa winners of the Cowgirl Queen Contest will represent Quad City AllBreed Horse Association at the Iowa State Fair. Riders will compete in the junior or senior division. We also need to thank Anna Oltman from Mud Creek Stables and Doug Bogart and staff for the amazing clinic & ranch riding event that occurred on May 23rd. QCABHA was honored to sponsor the event! The riders participated in a full day of Doug’s instruction. Every rider came home with new skills and confidence.
