The Fair Entry deadline for the Rock Island County 4-H Fair is tomorrow!

All 4‑H participants must submit their exhibit classes through Fair Entry by June 1 in order to exhibit at the 4-H Fair.

If you run into any problems over the weekend, don’t panic, additional classes can be added after Extension staff approve your submission.

We love seeing the creativity and dedication our 4-H members bring to their projects! Carter’s incredible recycled art piece is a great example of turning everyday materials into something meaningful and inspiring.

We are back again with another…

Project Spotlight ✨

Teen Federation member Carter Tharp created this incredible piece entirely out of recycled magazine pages. Using over 300 rolled paper tubes and spending nearly 3 months on construction, Carter transformed everyday materials into a colorful and eye-catching work of art.

Carter says this became one of his favorite projects because he enjoyed watching small individual pieces come together into something much bigger and more impactful. He also loved finding creative ways to reuse materials that would normally be thrown away.

This project was exhibited at the Fair and earned a State Fair Delegation — an exciting accomplishment that reflects the creativity, patience, and dedication put into the piece!

All 4-H exhibitors must submit their exhibit classes through FairEntry in order to participate in the 4-H Fair.

A few reminders:
• Follow the instructions carefully and complete entries for all family members before hitting submit
• If you accidentally submit early, don’t panic, Extension staff can still help add classes or members after approval
• Be sure to reference the Fairbook when selecting exhibit classes

Join our 4-H Teen Federation for a fun, hands-on candle making workshop.

Participants will create their own custom candles to take home or gift to someone special.
This workshop is youth-led, with Teen Federation members guiding each step of the process. You’ll get to choose your own colors, scents, and decorative elements to make a candle that’s completely your own—no experience needed.

Yesterday we celebrated the amazing 4-H moms and caregivers who support our members every step of the way. Thank you for the rides, encouragement, project help, late nights, and countless hours you give to help our youth grow and succeed. We appreciate all that you do for Rock Island County 4-H!

To every mom out there putting in the daily grind at home and helping us all survive the chaos known as fair week. We see you we appreciate you and you deserve today.

Members who complete projects in 4 different project areas will be eligible for the Super-4’Her Award.
(Example: Foods, Photography, Horticulture, and Woodworking would count as 4 different project areas.)

Multiple projects within the same project area count as one area toward the Super-4’Her Award.

Reminder that an in-person YQCA training will be held on May 12 at the Milan Extension office.

YQCA is required each year for youth showing beef, dairy, goats, sheep, and/or swine.
