We feel strongly about protecting and defending these dogs! As one of the most abused and misunderstood breeds of all time, K.A.R.E.'s number one goal is to prevent our rescued dogs from ever suffering neglect or abuse again, carefully placing them into loving homes where they will be Ambassadors for the breed. All of our rescued dogs are provided with quality veterinary care, initial training and
lots of socialization (with both people and animals of all ages). Our dogs are up to date on their vaccinations and are spayed/neutered (if age appropriate) prior to adoption. If, on the rare occasion, we adopt out a puppy less than 6 month old, we will then utilize our spay/ neuter contract. This is a legal and binding contract stating that the actual ownership of the puppy does not transfer to the adopter until proof of spay/neuter is produced within a given time period. has a thorough follow up procedure in place and there is no compromise on this. Our strict adoption policy includes, but is not limited to, a thorough application process, an initial phone screen, and home visits accompanied by both personal and vet reference checks- as well as a nationwide criminal background check. In addition, we reserve the right to deny an adoption to anyone for any reason. If one of our dogs captures your interest - the first step is to fill out an adoption application. Once your application is received, it will be reviewed and you will be contacted within a reasonable time frame. It will take a few days to complete the entire screening process but when finished, that's when a home visit will be scheduled. Please be aware that everybody who lives in the home will be expected to be present during the home visit. Upon completion of the screening proceedure - it's time for you to meet your potential new family member. We'll set up a time that is most convenient for both of us. If there is a love connection and we feel it's the right match- we will then officiate the adoption and you can bring your new dog home!! NOTE: Once you've been approved to adopt that special dog, for your convenience, we're happy to hold your new dog for a reasonable period of time until you're able take him/her home. However, we do request that the adoption fee is paid in full- in advance. If you'd like to utilize this service, please do not hesitate to ask for details. We are always in need of good foster homes.
