Mifflinburg Area Little League

10/02/2026

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Steve Buttorff, a truly special member of the Mifflinburg Area Little League family.

For 50 years, Steve gave his time, energy, and dedication to our Little League program and to the countless young athletes who came through it. His impact on our league is immeasurable.

Over the years, Steve wore many hats: coach, umpire, league president, partner to District 13, and so much more. But perhaps some of his greatest contributions happened behind the scenes, where he tirelessly worked to help keep our program moving forward and ensure that the next generation had a place to learn, compete, and grow.

We are incredibly grateful for the countless hours he gave, the lives he touched, and the legacy he leaves behind.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Buttorff family during this difficult time.

We lost a great person, a great volunteer, and a great friend of Mifflinburg Area Little League.

🚨2 LITTLE LEAGUE BOARD POSITIONS OPEN!
Mifflinburg Area Little League is looking for two volunteers to join our District Board and help keep our Little League program strong, safe, and running for the kids in our community.

🔴 SAFETY OFFICER
The Safety Officer plays a critical role in keeping our players, coaches, volunteers, and families safe. Responsibilities include:
• Tracking all background checks & clearances for volunteers
• Coordinates all safety activities
• Ensures safety in player training & safe playing conditions
• Coordinates reporting and prevention of injuries
• Solicits suggestions for making conditions safer
• Reports suggestions to LL International through the league president.

⚾ UMPIRE-IN-CHIEF
The Umpire-in-Chief helps oversee and strengthen our league's umpire program. Responsibilities include:
• Recommending umpires to the league President for appointment to the league umpire roster
• Recruiting and retaining volunteer umpires
• Establishing a league umpire training program consistent with LL guidelines
• Coordinating and assisting with conducting umpire clinics at league and district level
• Communicating rule changes to league umpires
• Scheduling league umpires for regular season games
• Evaluating league umpires using established guidelines to maintain program integrity

❤️ THESE ARE VOLUNTEER POSITIONS, BUT THEIR IMPACT IS HUGE.
Our Little League doesn't run without dedicated volunteers stepping up to help.
Filling these two positions is essential to keeping our district Little League program up and running and, most importantly, ensuring we can continue providing a safe, organized, and positive baseball and softball experience for the kids in our community.

You don't have to do it alone. You'll be joining a team of volunteers who are all working toward the same goal: Giving our kids the opportunity to play, learn, compete, and create memories that last a lifetime.

If you are interested in serving as our Safety Officer or Umpire-in-Chief, send us a message here or email our Information Officer 📧: [email protected]

Tonight our final divisions Post Season run came to a close. Our Baseball Majors played a great game but came up short 4-5 against Lewisburg tonight.

These boys put up some great performances this tournament and have a lot to be proud of. 👏🏻💙

⚾️Our Baseball Minors ended their Post-Season tournament last night with a tough 4-14 loss to Central Columbia. They took the lead early on but were unable to hold onto it.

While this tournament didn’t end like we hoped, these boys can be proud of all the hard work they put in over these last few week. It was fun to get to watch you fight hard on the field. You all have a bright future ahead. 💙👏🏻
