Hi everyone! We have received a number of questions about the derby and if we were still planning to have it. We apologize as most of you know life gets busy at times and you put things off only to plan to do it later. Later comes and goes and wished you just would’ve taken the time in the first place.
Well we have good news, the derby is most definitely happening again! The derby will be on May 2nd this year from 8am-4pm. We have been busy getting sponsors, prizes for the derby, and the fish are already ordered including plenty of big ones!
For future reference, the derby will always be planned to be held on the first Saturday in May. Similar to how it’s been the last 4 years. It’s always been traditionally held the first Saturday in May for many years as we recently found notes dating back to 1991! Although, there was a period where it wasn’t held, the Englehart family, the American Legion Post 410, the Buffalo Creek Watershed Alliance, and the RB Winter of Trout Unlimited are more than thrilled to have brought it back and have it been a huge success the last 4 years! Even when mother nature hasn’t always cooperated.
Be on the lookout for us to post our first round of sponsors. It’s a way to showcase those businesses and individuals who truly make this derby possible. We ask that you please support all those businesses that we will post periodically until the derby.
We look forward to having another great derby and hope to see you all there! Just pray Mother Nature provides us with a beautiful, sun filled day! 🎣☀️
