Special Meeting Showcasing the Scott Van Cleef Emerging Leader Program (ELP)
The program is designed to identify, motivate, develop, and encourage emerging leaders to serve actively in AFA by providing hands-on experience and unique insights into how the Association operates and is governed. AFA needs an infusion of committed new leaders to bring a fresh perspective to the organization.

The Emerging Leader Program is intended to accelerate the development of field leaders and to inspire them to serve at all levels of the Association. It is also designed to be an enjoyable and fulfilling experience for the participants and a program that will attract and retain our finest members.

2025-2026 Emerging Leader

As Director Air and Space Programs of GE Aerospace Government Relations – Defense, Avery Woolridge coordinates customer team efforts supporting Air Education and Training Command, the Air Force Sustainment Center, the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, and the Oklahoma Air Logistics Complex.
Avery has over 39 years of aerospace maintenance, logistics and technical field training experience. His background includes intermediate and organization maintenance repair, periodic maintenance operations, aircraft generation, and field training instruction.
Avery is the Vice President for Leadership Development with the Oklahoma Air Force Association Gerrity Chapter.


Janelle Stafford
Regional Business Development Manager
Moog Military Aircraft

Janelle Stafford is currently in her second term on the AFA Board of Directors. Her current committee memberships include the AIMS Steering Committee, Advocacy Committee, Emerging Leader Program Co-Lead, Field Council, Membership Committee Chair, and she leads the monthly Chapter Development Sessions. She has been active with AFA since 2014, and has held numerous positions, including Chapter, State and Region President. Janelle has been a part of the Oklahoma Aerospace and Defense Community for more than 25 years, and currently is the Regional Business Development Manager for Moog Military Aircraft. She lives in Shawnee, and has two children and four grandchildren.

Chapter Treasurer Sonya Yelbert represented the Chapter and attended the Tinker AFB Spring Community College of the Air Force graduation and presented the Pitsenbarger Award.

As part of a NASA grant for STEM education received from ODAA, we worked with STARBASE to create these coins for the Oklahoma City campus. They will be awarded to the top male and female students from each class.

Rob Lyman
Brigadier general (Ret)

Rob Lyman is a retired Brigadier General of the U.S. Air Force, with three decades of experience in cyberspace operations, logistics, space and special operations. He retired from active duty as the Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Cyber Effects Operations on the Headquarters Air Force staff at the Pentagon, where he was responsible for the development of over 36,000 cyber professionals. Since retiring from active duty he has advised clients in numerous mission areas including space, unmanned vehicle systems, artificial intelligence, energy, strategic materials, cybersecurity, communications and information technology.

AFA Oklahoma State President Walter Kula represented us at today's Tinker AFB First Sergeant Symposium. Twice a year the First Sergeants host this event to help new acting First Sergeants and those considering becoming a First Sergeant. AFA is there to ensure they know what we do to help them as we Advocate, Educate, and Support Air & Space Power.
