Due to current conditions and forecast, we will not test outdoor sirens today. Our system does a silent test every day, so we are still monitoring siren performance.

At least one of our neighboring jurisdictions still plans to test today, so you may still hear times where you are.

June is Pet Preparedness Month! 🐶🐈

When severe weather strikes, your pets depend on you to keep them safe. Start building your pet’s emergency plan today. Start with the basics: a leash, carrier, food, water, meds, and a backup caregiver who knows your pet’s routine.

Take a few minutes to think through:

🐾 Where your pets will go during severe weather
🐾 How you’ll transport them quickly if you need to evacuate
🐾 A bag of supplies your pets will need for several days

Having a pet preparedness plan now can help reduce stress and confusion when emergencies happen. You should also keep printed copies in your go-bag with vaccination records, microchip info, feeding instructions, and a recent photo of you with your pet.

Hi all,

Here is the updated weather for the Midwest City area.

We could see some rain and thunderstorms leading up to the weekend. Tomorrow, we have a marginal risk for severe weather, with hail being the primary threat if supercells form initially. Later, storms could form a squall line and then the main threat would be damaging winds.

The intersection of cold and warm fronts to our northwest may provide the instability for storm formation tomorrow. We are included in the area favored for development. It's nice to be someone's favorite, at least.

On Saturday, we have a similar Marginal Risk for severe storms with large hail and damaging winds being the primary threats.

Even if we don't see severe weather, there is some chance we will get some rain tomorrow and Saturday because, you know, it's the weekend.

Have a great weekend, and remember, even if you didn't this week, you have to go to work next Monday. Sorry.

Memorial Day 2026

Good Morning,

Looks like we have a nice warm, dry day ahead of us as we honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.

We may see some rain mid-week, namely Wednesday morning.

We'll know more about next weekend's forecast as we get closer. Upper-level elements are more subtle than they typically are this time of year, leading to lower confidence in storm formation.

While we may get some helpful rainfall this week, our neighbors to the north and west really need rain to help reduce the drought.

I hope you are all having a safe and restful holiday. For those of you who are working, thank you.

Hi everyone, it's almost the weekend!

We are entering a rainy pattern starting NOW. OK, starting this morning.

We'll have scattered thunderstorms through the evening tonight and into tomorrow morning although chances will drop as the night goes on.

There is also the potential for localized flooding tonight. Flooding is often one of those weather hazards that doesn't seem as important when we are talking about hail and tornadoes and such, but flooding causes more storm-related deaths than any other thunderstorm related hazard. I've said it before and I'll say it again: "Turn Around, Don't Drown". Whether you are in a vehicle or on foot, stay OUT of flood water.

As an aside, if you're going to be in Atlanta any time soon, avoid the robotaxis if it's raining. So far, two of them have driven into flood waters and stalled there.

Tomorrow night, we have a marginal risk for severe storms, with the main risks being wind and hail. For us, the timing will be later on, so if you have outdoor activities planned, the earlier you can wrap them up the better. We could see storms as early as 7PM, more likely after 9PM.

Today is cool, temps will warm up starting tomorrow to very nice upper 70s/lower 80s. The weekend has a pretty good chance of being rainy at least parts of both days. Good luck trying to find a window when you can mow.

The drought got a little help today, hopefully that pattern will continue, although I will say, and I'm looking at YOU, Mother Nature, it would be nice if the rain could come not on the weekends.

Have a great weekend, everyone, even if it is a rainy one.

Good morning,

We have a highly conditional threat for severe weather this afternoon and evening. The best chances during the day will be in Kansas are further north due to an upper-level trough.

TODAY DURING THE DAY
We have a very low (20-30%) chance of storms developing along the dry line in western OK this afternoon and evening. If storms can develop and sustain, they will be supercells with the potential for tornadoes, very large hail and damaging winds.

LATER TONIGHT AND INTO TOMORROW
Storm potential will be higher as a cold front pushes into the area late tonight and into Tuesday morning, for us, likely after 11PM. This will be more of a line of storms with the risk of damaging wind, large hail, along with low potential for tornadoes.

We are currently under a Wind Advisory until 10 PM, so if you spent your weekend putting out all your deck furniture and plants, make sure they are secured.

We have another potential for severe weather tomorrow afternoon and evening, with hail being the main threat.

Our best potential for rain will be later in the week, Wednesday morning and/or Thursday afternoon and evening. We don't expect severe weather, but an isolated severe storm or two cannot be ruled out.

The Midwest City Police Department is working a bomb threat near the Midwest City Fire Department Fire Station 1 located at 8201 E. Reno. The fire station and the adjacent U.S. Post Office and Library all are evacuated as the situation is addressed. Reno is shut down in both directions. Please avoid the area until further notice.

"At approximately 7am, the Midwest City Police Department responded to Fire Station #1 at 8201 E Reno Ave on reports of an explosive device in a vehicle. The vehicle has been located, and the immediate area has been cordoned off.
This is a very specific incident, and we do believe it is contained at this time. Oklahoma County’s Hazardous Disposal Unit is enroute to assist.
Both east and west bound lanes of E Reno have been blocked from Midwest Blvd to N Towry Drive.
Although this is a very specific threat, please remain vigilant at the municipal complex. If you see something out of place or that does not belong, please evacuate the area and contact 911."

1325 hours

The weather service had a special briefing just now. We’ve got a rather strong cap in place today, so it’s possible no one will see storms at all. If storms do form, it will be along the dry line, and there is enough wind shear to sustain supercells. The main threats will be baseball sized hail and 7mph winds. The tornado threat is low, but not zero.

Timing for us if storms do set up will be after 6PM, most likely 8-11PM.

Tomorrow night there is a more substantial risk overnight into Tuesday morning. We will know more at the morning briefing.
