This is why we always caution people not to drive into flood waters. Please don't put yourself and first responders at risk.

Did you know it's illegal to drive around barricades in Oklahoma?

There are numerous areas of flood risk today due to flash flooding from heavy rain and river flooding.

🚫 Don't drive into flooded roadways or around barricades for closed roads. The water may be deeper than you think!

Hi everyone,

We have a Sight risk for severe storms this afternoon and evening in Midwest City. The main threats will be large hail, damaging winds, and heavy localized rainfall.

The tornado threat is very low, but not zero. Storms will move southeast at 25-30 mph.

We are currently seeing some pretty high, winds as well as some defined rotation out west. Remember that to be considered severe, storms must meet one of the following:

Wind gusts of 58 mph or higher
Hail of 1 inch diameter or larger
Producing a tornado

If we get more storms this afternoon, we should get more rest later. I will update with any significant changes.

I know, everyone just wants some dang rain. I wish I could provide that, but we get what we get, right?

Have a great second Monday, everyone.

Happy Monday! In case you ever wondered what a derecho is like, now you know.

If your home or business was damaged, please report it at www.damage.ok.gov as soon as possible.

Today, Midwest City should get a respite from storms, but our risk is back tomorrow (Slight) and Wednesday (Marginal). Hail and damaging winds will be the main threats.

Timing for Tuesday is into the overnight, for Wednesday, it looks like more the evening timeframe.

As always, make sure you have multiple ways to receive timely warnings, including at least one that will wake you up.

We'll have some chance for showers every day until Sunday, with temperatures hanging out in the upper 80s, and 90s towards the end of the week.

Have a great week, and stay safe!

OEM is in contact with local emergency managers and the Governor's office regarding impacts from overnight severe storms and heavy rain.

If your home or business was damaged, please be sure to report it online at damage.ok.gov! Reporting damage helps authorities understand the full impact of the storms and may help connect you to resources.

Local governments with damages, including storm debris, road or bridge damage, utility damage, etc. are asked to report as well. The best way to report infrastructure damages is by submitting via your county or municipal emergency manager.

Storm Damage in Midwest City - June 22, 2026

A storm moved through our area overnight with the primary impact being high winds. Preliminary reports indicate limbs down and also power lines and power poles down across the area.

Sanitation Routes: Sanitation services are running today. However, residents are asked to pick up their carts which were toppled over by the high winds so sanitation crews can service those carts. The City has additional staffing on the routes to assist with setting the carts upright, but assistance from residents will greatly expedite this process.

If Trash Was Not Collected: If today is your scheduled sanitation collection day and your cart was not picked up, please call Public Works Administration tomorrow (June 23, 2026) to schedule a pickup later in the week. Thank you for your understanding as we all work together during the aftermath of this storm.

Missing Trash/Recycling Carts: If a resident is unable to locate their trash/recycling cart, please call Public Works Administration tomorrow (June 23, 2026) to request a new one. Serial numbers are not tracked on carts, so residents do not need to worry about having that information when they call.

Tree Limbs Down: There are reports of tree limbs down. Residents should utilize the quarterly bulk waste pick-up procedures to dispose of downed limbs. www.midwestcityok.org/214/Quarterly-Bulk-Waste-Collection

Power Lines: If you encounter power lines down, stay away from them. Do not drive over power lines. Do not touch a downed power line or anything they may be touching as those objects could be energized as well.
