The Dorchester Civic Center Committee would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Julie Martin for more than 30 years of dedicated service to the Dorchester Civic Center and the historic Dorchester School.

Julie’s unwavering commitment, countless hours of volunteer work, and deep love for this special place have helped preserve and strengthen a treasured piece of our community’s history for future generations.

To honor her remarkable accomplishment and years of faithful service, the committee recently presented Julie with a commemorative plaque, a beautiful bouquet of flowers, and one of Barbara Martin’s famous chocolate layer cake to celebrate her dedication and contributions.

Julie, thank you for your passion, leadership, and commitment to the Dorchester. The Dorchester Civic Center is better because of your service, and we are grateful for all you have done.

A legacy of service, a heart for the community, and a love for Dorchester spanning more than three decades. Thank you, Julie.

The Dorchester Civic Center is excited to announce our first Community Market Day on Saturday, June 13 from 8 AM–12 PM!

We’re looking for local vendors, yard sales, baked goods, produce, crafts, artisans, and more. This event is all about bringing the community together and supporting local participation.

Vendor spaces are FREE for this first event, but we do need at least 10 vendors signed up by May 29 in order to make the event happen.

What a special evening at the Dorchester Civic Center as we welcomed the Hinesville Rotary Club Casino Royale Gala last month on Saturday, April 25. ♠️♦️🎲

We are truly grateful that the Hinesville Rotary Club chose the Dorchester Civic Center as the setting for such a meaningful and successful community event. It was wonderful to see our historic space filled with fellowship, generosity, and community spirit throughout the evening.

Thank you again to the Hinesville Rotary Club for allowing us to be a part of such a memorable night. ❤️

This past Saturday, we had the honor of hosting a beautiful baby shower celebrating TaNetra Bowens and her soon-to-arrive baby boy, Isaiah. The room was filled with love, laughter, and so many sweet moments shared between family and friends.

There’s something truly special about gathering together to celebrate new beginnings, and we’re grateful to have been part of such a meaningful day.

Wishing TaNetra and Baby Isaiah all the best as they begin this exciting new chapter!

We’d Love Your Input!

We’re looking for simple, meaningful ways to bring more life and connection to our beautiful Dorchester Civic Center—and we’d love your ideas.

Right now, the building is only in use a couple of weekends each month, and we’d really like to open it up for the community to enjoy more regularly in ways that are fun, welcoming, and low-cost for everyone.

We’re considering things like:• A monthly farmer’s market• Community yard sale days• A casual “breaking bread” potluck• Fish fries or BBQ gatherings• Sunday afternoon ice cream socials• Family game nights or seasonal events

Nothing fancy, just good, simple ways to spend time together.

The rainy weather couldn’t dampen the holiday cheer at the Dorchester Village Civic Center Christmas Bazaar. Smiles, laughter, and festive spirit filled the old school as neighbors came together to enjoy the day.

We are beyond grateful for everyone who came out yesterday to support the Dorchester Village Civic Center Christmas Bazaar and Fish Fry — even with the rainy forecast.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing vendors and artists who shared their handmade crafts, talents, and time, and to every single person who showed up to support them. Your presence turned a rainy day into a warm, festive, and incredibly successful event.

A special thank you to the Dorchester Board, volunteers who helped make the fish fry such a success, and to Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus 🎅 for bringing extra joy and Christmas cheer to the day!

Seeing our community come together to support Dorchester and our local creatives is what this event is all about. We truly couldn’t do this without you. Thank you for making this celebration one to remember!🎄
