Mentors Care

Mentors Care Connecting high school students with adult volunteers to mentor students toward graduation and purposeful lives

We have a population of students in our high schools that are on track of not graduating. The reasons are varied; homeless, impoverished, poor support system, failed classes in previous years, poor attendance, incarcerated parents, single parent homes, peer pressure and bad decisions. Sometimes a student can get off track even if they have loving adults in their life. Mentors Care will partner wit

h those and support them with a loving adult matched with their child. If a student does not have positive adult role models in their life, the student is in real risk of not graduating and having a future. Mentoring, at its core, guarantees young people that there is someone who cares about them, assures them they are not alone in dealing with day-to-day challenges, and makes them feel like they matter. Research confirms that quality mentoring relationships have powerful positive effects on young people in a variety of personal, academic, and their future. Ultimately, mentoring connects a young person to personal growth and development, and social and economic opportunity. Yet one in three young people will grow up without this critical asset. Young Adults Who Were Falling Off Track But Had a Mentor Are:

55% more likely to enroll in college
78% more likely to volunteer regularly
90% are interested in becoming a mentor
130% more likely to hold leadership positions. o In addition to better school attendance and a better chance of going on to higher education, mentored youth maintain better attitudes toward school. (The Role of Risk, 2013)

o Students who meet regularly with their mentors are 52% less likely than their peers to skip a day of school and 37% less likely to skip a class. (Public/Private Ventures study of Big Brothers Big Sisters)

Cleburne, this one’s for you! 💚

Our Church Roundup is making its way to Cleburne and there’s one church we have to shine a spotlight on: Cleburne Bible Church! 🙌

Thank you for being a church that says YES to investing in students, supporting our mission and helping us find mentors, and believing in the power of relationships! Your partnership with Mentors Care is helping create a ripple effect that reaches far beyond one student, one mentor or one school.

One church can make a BIG difference. And we’re so grateful Cleburne Bible Church is doing just that. 💚

We’re continuing our church shoutouts over the next few weeks because we want to celebrate the churches already making an impact and challenge more churches to jump in!

⛪️ Churches, want to be part of Mentors Care? We’d love to connect with you and show you what it looks like to invest in the next generation.

Let’s change generations together!!

ICYMI… WE’RE STILL IN SHOCK! 🥹😭🥰

Last Friday, Mentors Care had a pretty incredible surprise LIVE on WFAA News! Brian Blackwell was joined by Melissa and Monica from Communities Foundation of Texas and the Cotton Bowl Classic, and they surprised us with a $25,000 donation to kick off this year’s North Texas Giving Day! 😭🙌

A surprise like this means so much more than a number! It means more opportunities to connect caring adults with students. More conversations, encouragement, and support! More lives impacted.. and ultimately, more generations changed!

We are incredibly grateful to the Cotton Bowl Foundation, North Texas Giving Day, WFAA, Communities Foundation of Texas and everyone who continues to believe in the power of mentorship.

Missed it live last Friday? 👀 Here’s the moment you need to see!

North Texas Giving Day continues through September 17, and we’d love for you to be part of what comes next! Every gift helps us continue connecting students with mentors and creating impact that reaches far beyond one student, it reaches generations!

Strong communities are built when young people have the support they need to thrive. Thanks to a generous grant from the Tyler Street Foundation, Mentors Care was able to provide that support to students at Life School Oak Cliff this year. 💚

During the 2025–2026 school year:

💚 42 students served
💚 612 volunteer mentoring hours
💚 100% of seniors in Mentors Care for 2+ years graduated
💚 225 basic needs met on campus

But behind each number is a student with their own story.

One former Life School Oak Cliff student shared:

“Mentors Care helped me have someone to talk to while navigating my next steps. I lost my biggest supporter during my senior year, and I was struggling to find motivation to keep going. My mentor and the Mentors Care Coordinator helped reset my focus and gave me space to feel my emotions.”

Thank you, Tyler Street Foundation, for helping make stories like these possible and for investing in the students of Life School Oak Cliff. Together, we are building a stronger community, one student and one relationship at a time. 💚

Early giving is officially OPEN! 🎉

North Texas Giving Day is more than a day to give, it’s an opportunity to invest in the students, mentors and communities that shape what comes next!

At Mentors Care, one caring adult can make a lasting difference in a student’s life. And when that relationship creates confidence, connection, and hope, the impact can reach far beyond one student. 💚

Your early gift helps Mentors Care connect more students with caring adult mentors and continue building a stronger future, one relationship at a time!

👉 Give early and help us make an impact that lasts.
