Mary Chiz - Midlothian Library Board Trustee

Mary Chiz - Midlothian Library Board Trustee As an elected Trustee on the Midlothian IL Library Board, I look forward to helping this Community Resource grown and flourish. Thank you for your support!

After years of loving my library, volunteering for library reading programs and supporting the fabulous services this institution provides for our our community, I was asked to fill an interem position on the library board in August of 2014. Many residents will know me as the "Balloon Lady" making turtles, swords and helicopters at the summer reading program kickoff events. My passion for improvin

g our community and fostering growth through our library, has brought me the tremendous opportunity to be your voice as a Trustee on the Library Board. I graduated Valedictorian at Kolmar School, I was in the top 5% of my class graduating at Bremen High School, and I am a life-long resident of our community. I graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor in Fine Arts Degree with University Honors, and I started my own Graphic Design firm with my husband 18 years ago. My experience as a business owner, my skills in Marketing and Promotion, and my dedication to keeping the Midlothian Library a strong institution for years to come will help guide my efforts as I represent you, the residents. I look forward to helping our community grow during the next four years.

Hello Fellow Residents and Neighbors,
It has been my pleasure to serve our community for the past nine years as a member of our Library Board. During this time, I've also served as Board President through the Pandemic, and through major reconstruction of our building.

I've always advocated that elected officials should serve and then be willing to step aside and let others offer their voices in governance. To give myself time to enjoy a litle more personal time and less community service time, I made the decision to not run for re-elections for another 4-year term, which is why I was not on the ballot in early April.

I encourage you to support our new Library Board members in serving our community. They put in a tremendous amount of service hours without compensation of any kind, and are always eager to hear how we can support the needs of those we serve and make our library a resource for education, entertainment, and community development.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve for 9 years! I hope to find another chance to step forward in service in the future.

Hello Midlothian residents. I'd like your opinion... As part of the building renovations, the Library Board is evaluating whether to keep the metal architectural elements that are in our parking lot. What do you think?

We are moving along with the exterior of the building and we hope to have all of the new windows and doors installed so that the library can be open for our 90th anniversary celebration this fall.

Thanks and giving...two words that summarize the season, not just a one meal holiday. This year due to Covid, the Bremen High School students are not going door-to-door to collect donations. You can make a cash donation to our Midlothian food pantires through GoFundMe. Let's all help each other and make the winter a little easier for those that are most in need. Here's the link:

Based on patron feedback, we’re making a few changes in our procedures to serve you better. While appointments for library services will still continue for Midlothian cardholders and card applicants, starting tomorrow, August 27, OUR DOORS WILL BE UNLOCKED for walk-ins the entire time we are open. We will still be observing a 15-minute cleaning break after every 1-hour time slot, so to maximize your time, we recommend you come as close as possible to the start of the time slots. For our schedule, see www.midlothianlibrary.org/reopening.
