Grits Has a Very Important Job…

I’m 11 years old, 115 pounds, and apparently I’m the guy everyone comes to when they need to know if another dog has good manners.

Young, energetic dog? I’ve got you.

Dog who thinks personal space is just a suggestion? Yep, I’ve met those.

Dog who needs someone calm to show them the ropes? That’s me.

I’ve been a dog evaluator’s secret weapon because I’m calm, balanced, and pretty much unbothered by all the shenanigans that come my way.

I’ve met dogs who bounce, dogs who wrestle, dogs who have absolutely NO idea what “polite” means… and I just calmly say, “Relax, kid. I got this.” 😎

But here’s the thing people sometimes forget about the dog who helps everyone else:

I’m looking for my own family, too. ❤️

I’m a gentle, low-energy guy who enjoys the simple things in life. I’m dog friendly, love my people, and would be perfectly happy spending my days relaxing beside you.

💛 Hi, I’m Gus — Proud Dad and Gentle Soul

Have you heard? My kids, Daisy, Houdini, and Aspen went off to start their new lives. I’ve heard they’re doing great. That’s all a dad could hope for, really. Knowing they’re safe, loved, and learning what it means to be part of a family fills my heart with pride. I picture them chasing toys, curling up on couches, and soaking up all the love they deserve. It’s bittersweet, but mostly it’s joy — the kind you feel when you know your pups have found their place in the world.

Now it’s my turn. I’ve spent my life outdoors, watching the world from behind a fence, and I’m ready to step into my own new beginning — one where I’m not just watching, but belonging. I’m a big, gentle guy who loves affection and belly rubs, and I’ll lean right into you for more. I’m happiest near water — give me a pond, a creek, or even a sprinkler, and I’ll show you my best splash.

I’ve done my job raising my pups, and now I’m ready to meet my own family — the ones who’ll see me not just as a rescue, but as a loyal friend who’s waited patiently for his turn to be loved.

I’m smart, silly, affectionate, and full of personality. I know my manners, love being near my humans, and believe there’s no such thing as too much snuggle time.

Now for the important part: I need to be the ONLY DOG in my home. I’m happiest when I don’t have to share my living space with other dogs.

My current foster family has two dogs of their own, and keeping everyone separated has become stressful and difficult. So, Lab Rescue of Greater Richmond is looking for a new foster home where I can relax, feel comfortable, and enjoy being someone’s special girl.

Guess what? My sister Daisy and my brothers Houdini and Aspen already found their awesome homes… and now it’s my turn! 🎉

I’m a 2‑year‑old yellow Lab with a big heart and an even bigger smile. I love everyone — people, dogs, you name it! I’ve been waiting patiently in my kennel, dreaming about soft beds, belly rubs, and a family to call my own.

I’m sweet, friendly, and ready to learn all the fun parts of home life — walks, toys, and snuggles on the couch. I just need someone to open their door (and heart!) so I can show them how much love I’ve been saving up.

My kennel mates have been telling me about the good life — soft beds, warm homes, belly rubs on the couch, and families who love you just for being you. Three of my siblings have already been adopted, and I’ve heard they’re thriving. I’m so happy for them… and I’m hoping it’s my turn next.

I’m a social girl who loves people, attention, and I like to soak up affection like sunshine and lean in close for pets.

I dream about the day I’ll get to leave the kennel behind and start my own new chapter — one filled with cozy naps, fun adventures, and a family who sees how special I am. I’m ready for love, ready for a home, and ready to shine just like my siblings.

Erma’s current foster has two dogs of their own, and keeping everyone separated has become increasingly difficult. We need to find Erma a home where she can be comfortable and where everyone can relax.

This sweet 8-year-old girl has a whole lot of personality packed into her senior-girl package! She loves to snuggle on the couch, cuddle up with her people, and play like a puppy.
