For years, LaTonya searched for answers as unexplained swelling episodes disrupted her life and impacted multiple generations of her family. Her journey to an Hereditary Angioedema (HAE) diagnosis became more than a personal experience — it became a mission to advocate for herself, support her loved ones, and help others facing similar challenges feel less alone.

In our latest patient story, LaTonya shares how family advocacy, community support, and access to care helped her move forward with confidence and hope. 🧡

🗣️ Last month's "𝗩𝗶𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸" brought together patient advocates, policy experts, and partners for important conversations centered on healthcare access, affordability, and coverage. Throughout the event, advocates shared personal experiences that highlighted the real-life impact of policy decisions and the ongoing challenges many individuals and families face when trying to access the care they need.

We’re honored to share reflections from advocates David, Narah, and Lynsey, whose stories helped bring these conversations to life.

Today on Hereditary Angioedema (HAE) Awareness Day, we recognize the strength, resilience, and experiences of those navigating life with HAE. From years of unanswered questions and emergency room visits to the daily uncertainty that can come with swelling attacks, the HAE community continues to face challenges that many people never see.

We are especially grateful to patients like Cheryl, LaTonya, and Debbie for sharing their stories and allowing us to highlight their experiences. Your voices help bring awareness to the realities of HAE while reminding others that they are not alone. 🧡

To everyone impacted by HAE, we see you, we support you, and we remain committed to helping people access the care they need.

Breakthroughs in cell and gene therapy are redefining what is possible for individuals facing complex health challenges, but research alone does not tell the full story.

For Jennifer Noonan, VP of Clinical Strategy, this work is deeply personal. As a genetic carrier of cystic fibrosis, she understands how evolving screenings and treatments shape not only healthcare decisions, but the emotional and financial realities that follow, driving a more patient-centered approach to care.

Read more about her perspective on the future of rare disease care and where Accessia Health fits in as the treatment landscape grows more complex.

Have you ever been negatively impacted because your insurance required you to try one medication first before you could receive the medication originally prescribed by your doctor? If so, we would like to better understand how this process affected you.

Your feedback can help us advocate for policies that provide your doctor with options to override requirements like these when they might be burdensome or harmful to your health.
