🌱 Board Spotlight: Dave Molzahn – Agriculture Team Leader 🌱

Dave first visited Uganda in 2014 to help assess ACT’s initial potato-growing project in Muko Sub-County. Shortly after, he joined the US Agriculture Team and has been working with ACT’s initiatives ever since. In 2018, he joined the US Board and now leads the Agriculture Team, while also contributing to the Finance Team and Social Business task force.

💬 “We are fortunate to partner with a dedicated, hard-working Ugandan team whose commitment to the community is seen in the wide range of educational opportunities they provide.”

Dave is especially excited about finding innovative ways to meet the community’s needs and ensuring ACT’s programs in Muko Sub-County are sustainable, meaningful, and impactful.

✨ “Even small donations can collectively make a big difference, funding projects that create meaningful change for families and communities.”

Through leadership like Dave’s, ACT Uganda continues to support sustainable agriculture, education, and development, helping communities thrive today and for the future.

🌸 We are excited to share this Easter letter from Generous Turinawe, our ACT director in Uganda 🌸

Dear Partners in the ACT Ministry,

As we celebrate the victory of our risen Lord, I want to take a moment to thank you for your unwavering commitment to the work God entrusted to us. Easter reminds us that no darkness is too deep, no stone too heavy, and no situation is too impossible for the power of Christ’s resurrection.

Your prayers, your sacrifice, and your partnership continue to breathe life into ACT's mission. Together, we are witnessing testimonies of hope, transformation, and restored purpose—the very evidence that Jesus is alive and still at work among His people.

May this Easter renew our strength, refresh our spirit, and fill our homes with the peace that only Christ can give. May the same power that raised Jesus from the dead empower us in every assignment, every challenge, and every dream God has placed in our hearts.

To the ACT family in the U.S., thank you for walking faithfully with us, the ACT family in Uganda. The harvest is plentiful, and I am grateful to God for allowing us to labor shoulder to shoulder.

Wishing you a blessed and joyful Easter filled with hope, mercy, grace, and renewed purpose.

Christ is risen; He is risen indeed! 🙏

đź’› With gratitude and love,
Generous Turinawe
Director, ACT Uganda

🌟 ACT Board Member Spotlight: Laura Ault 🌟

We’re thrilled to highlight Laura Ault, who joined the ACT Uganda Board in 2024 and chairs our Scholarship Team.

💬 “I am most proud of the impact of our scholarship program. When a child goes to school and learns to read, it changes their life forever — and it transforms their family and village too.”

ACT Uganda believes in the transformative power of education. Many Ugandan children, especially girls, miss out on schooling simply because families can’t afford tuition or supplies. Through our HONOR Scholarships, children receive a quality education from primary school all the way through high school — giving them the tools to become thriving adults.

📖 One story that stays with Laura is that of Ronah, one of our recent graduates. She is among the youngest in her large family and would not have attended school without an ACT scholarship. Despite challenges like COVID-19 and early marriage pressures on her sisters, Ronah excelled in math and physics, stayed focused, and graduated high school. She is now attending teachers’ college in Kabale with ACT’s continued support — on her way to becoming a high school science teacher!

✨ Stories like Ronah’s show how education doesn’t just change one life — it ripples through families and communities, creating brighter futures for everyone.

🌱 Advancing Agriculture & Sustainability in Bufundi, Uganda 🌱

The ACT Agriculture Team has been busy! They selected 100 farmers in greater Bufundi Subcounty and held nutrition and iron-rich bean training sessions, along with seed distribution. Farmers learned about balanced diets, food security, and proper garden management, helping them achieve strong harvests. Participants were also introduced to our iron-rich seed bank and ACT’s long-term sustainability goals.

Meanwhile, the ACT US team met with experts from TechMark and Greenstone Farm Credit to explore business opportunities in the potato sector as part of ACT Uganda’s move toward social business initiatives. These discussions focused on storage systems, potential collaborations, and building sustainable operations that support both the community and staff.

With these partnerships and programs, ACT Uganda continues to empower local farmers, strengthen food security, and develop social businesses that create lasting impact.

Thank you to all our volunteers and donors for your much needed support to make this possible!

đź’š Gratitude, Progress & Opportunity at ACT Uganda đź’š

We want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to Robin Stottlemyer, who has served as ACT’s Health Promotion US Team Leader for several years. As she steps into a new full-time role, we are deeply grateful for her passion, expertise, and the incredible impact she’s made—working closely with our Uganda-based team member, Judith Tukahirwe, to strengthen public health and wellbeing in Muko Sub-County. 🌱

Because of this strong foundation, our programs continue to thrive. Health education sessions are held about four times each month, reaching expectant mothers with critical knowledge and support.

✨ Last month brought an exciting, community-driven improvement:
Based on feedback from mothers, our “Mama Kit” has been updated to include a Mackintosh—a reusable rubber sheet that supports a clean, safe birth and continues to serve families long after as a protective layer for bedding.

In a community where diapers are not commonly used, this practical and sustainable solution is highly valued by mothers. Even better, the lower cost per kit means we can now reach and support even more women through our programs.

As we celebrate this progress, we are also looking for someone to step into the US HEAL Team Leader role—partnering with Judith to continue and grow this important work. With strong programs already in place, this is a meaningful opportunity to make a lasting difference.

What started as a vision is now a reality. Phase 1 of our retaining wall project in Muko, Uganda is complete and officially approved after its March 21 inspection.

These walls will house social businesses designed to generate ongoing and sustainable revenue for our programs while serving the community.

To everyone in Muko and the US who contributed - thank you for being part of this journey. đź’š

Health education continues to make a difference across Muko and the surrounding communities! đź’š

Our team in Uganda hosts sessions about four times each month, rotating between our school-based Girls Rise menstrual hygiene program and our community-based Healthy Moms / Healthy Babies maternal and child health education program. Through the HEAL program, we are equipping girls, mothers, and families with knowledge that strengthens health, confidence, and opportunity.

Now, we’re prayerfully and thoughtfully exploring something new.

In response to growing concerns around mental health and opioid addiction among young people in Muko, our staff is considering piloting an overnight camp in December 2026 for high-risk teens. Participants would be identified during upcoming school visits, and the camp would likely take place in school dormitories that are empty during the holidays.

We are still in the early planning stages, but this initiative could become a powerful, preventative, and cost-effective way to support vulnerable youth — addressing mental health and disease prevention before addiction or crisis takes hold, and helping young people envision a path toward success.

If you are a clinician or someone passionate about mental health support, we would love to connect. We are seeking funding partners to help turn this dream into reality.

Thank you for your support!
