We will be going to Lamun Lusk Sanchez Veterans Home tomorrow morning! If you would like to join us, please be at Post 4149 by 10am. After the visit, we will be swinging by the cemetery to visit RJ Volker’s grave. Tomorrow is his Angelversary and his parents are unable to go, so I would like to stop by there for them! We should be back by 2-2:30!
We are also collecting socks for the veterans at the home! Thanks!

We had a wonderful time today at our Annual Gold Star Luncheon! It is always a pleasure to connect and catch up with our extended family, which includes all the families associated with Post 4149. A heartfelt thank you to those who joined us for this special occasion and shared in our meal.

We were privileged to host a distinguished guest speaker, Jim Harris, whose uncles, Temple and Weldon Harris, are the namesakes of our Post. He shared personal photographs of his uncles and his father, who also served. It was an honor to read the letters they wrote home to their parents while stationed overseas.

SOME GOOD INFORMATION ABOUT OUR MILITARY SERVICE STARS AND WHAT THEY MEAN!

Military Service Stars
The military service flag, which dates back to World War I, is traditionally a white banner with a red border. The stars on it represent family members serving in the armed forces.
A blue star indicates a family member who is currently in active military service. It symbolizes hope and pride.
A gold star signifies a family member who died while in service. This is often referred to as a "Gold Star Family" and is the highest honor a service flag can display, as it represents the ultimate sacrifice.
A silver star is a less common symbol but is sometimes used to represent a service member who has been wounded or medically discharged due to injuries.
A white star is a recent and unofficial designation being used by some organizations to honor veterans and service members who died by su***de.
