CONCENRING OUR NEXT SHOW:
Well, we have this show coming up for the Midland Arts Association and we take a good deal of pride in hosting their annual summer show here in the gallery. Each year we make the participants create a fresh work of art to a chosen theme in order to play. This year's theme is "Show Us Your Devilish Side". I picked that theme with the example that I fart in an elevator.
Our last event was a Live Art Contest and it turned out to be a wonderful success for the local arts community. But it was not held without friction or controversy. You see, I wrote a ton of posts which were all individual hints to help the competing artists know what we would be looking for. After I did all that writing, I used AI to generate imagery to compliment what I had written. Apparently this use of AI offended many because they felt that I was robbing an opportunity from an artist by communicating to all artists an opportunity I created for the community in a manner they disapproved of. (There was $5k on the table for an art contest: I served steak and caviar and those turds cried about the plate it came on.) All of the horrible things they said caught me off guard and some of them hurt me rather deeply. If you know me, you know this warrants rebuttal and there will be much to come for sure. But, forgetting me for a moment...
As it turns out, their chief complaint is to "at least use Canva because it requires creativity and it is free and easy to use." So I went to Canva to check it out and, well, I think it is fair to say this is about a million middle fingers to all the little AI crybabies out there who had so much fun crapping on me and the gallery and such. Even the almighty Canva is tired of hearing your whining and this is their way of smiting you for all your recent efforts at putting others down rather than making effort to lift those around you and supporting you up as I try to do.
And this is DEFINITELY Canva's devilish side!

2025 Fall Show Deadline is soon approaching. Drop off completed work this Saturday October 4 between 10am and 2pm at the Allison Fine Arts Building located on Midland College campus

Acceptance notifications will be emailed Monday October 6th.

Opening reception and awards ceremony will be held on Thursday October 9 from 6pm-7:30pm.
