Founded in 1966, Chippewa Nature Center is a non-profit environmental education organization, open year-round with FREE daily admission. Our 1,500 acres is comprised of woodlands, wetlands, fields and rivers with 19 miles of trails to explore. Facilities include a state-of-the art Visitor Center and reconstructed 1870s Homestead Farm, complete with log cabin, barns and outbuildings, log schoolhous

e and maple sugarhouse. We also operate an on-site Nature Preschool for 3- and 4-year old students during the school year. A plethora of programs are offered throughout the year for all ages, including story hours, guided hikes, Homestead Sundays and many field trips including kayaking, birding, snowshoeing and more. Nature Day Camp is in full swing and we love hearing about campers' nature discoveries! While exploring Arbury pond, the Nature Tots group found two eastern newts. Newts are a type of salamander that have an interesting three-stage life cycle: aquatic larva, terrestrial (land dwelling) juvenile known as an "eft," and aquatic adult. After everyone got a good look, this adult newt was released back into the pond to hopefully produce more baby newts!

Here's a Wednesday "who dung it" for you. What animal left this s**t behind? Hint- the second photo gives you an idea what habitat this animal prefers.

A few people guessed correctly- it's from a river otter! This has been a great year for otter at CNC with multiple sightings and evidence left behind.
