A fatal collision took place near Big Spring and Loop 250 around 2:05 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 20, 2026), according to Midland Police.
MPD reported, “Officers responded to reports of a wrong-way driver near the intersection of West Loop 250 North and North Midkiff Road.” The juvenile driver – a 17-year-old male -- was operating a Chevrolet Camaro, driving eastbound in the westbound main lanes.
The driver of that vehicle avoided an attempted intercept by MPD officers near West Loop 250 North and North Garfield Street. The vehicle continued eastbound in the westbound lanes before colliding with another vehicle near West Loop 250 North and North Big Spring Street,” MPD reported
MPD added that a preliminary investigation revealed that the Camaro struck another vehicle and that a third vehicle struck debris from the Camaro before losing steering and colliding with the second vehicle.
The male juvenile driver of the Camero was pronounced deceased. Occupants of the other two vehicles were transported to Midland Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, MPD reported. The investigation is ongoing.
