Today (8 December) marks the birthday of revolutionary Irish singer-songwriter, record producer and activist Sinéad O'Connor.

In a 1986 interview with Irish Times O'Connor elaborated on her visual appearance, and how she doesn’t choose to label her gender, saying “I like to say, ‘I’m not a man or a woman – I’m Sinéad O’Connor.’”
